Hi guys

Just picked up a pair of these for my car. Anyone had them added in themselves, or would a place like Jetspeed be the go?

Ive done a search but can't find any directly relevant posts.

Thanks in advance

Andrew

Hi Andrew

Shouldnt be too hard, measure up and cut

But i guess if you're not much of a DIY'er then its worth paying someone to get it right and not mess up the bar, which would save you money in the end :P

Still, its just 2 holes and attaching them so it should be easy for almost anyone to do

I think you will have to take off the whole front bar and cut the 'bumper frame' underneath. I cant find any pics of a r32 with its front bar off to show :)

Nah, all the GTR I've seen and mine was the same, the holes are in the metal reo ready and waiting for the N1 ducts to be put in the bumper. The GTSt reo needs to be cut to fit though.

I used to like N1 ducts, but now think the ruin the smooth bumper line when installed.

There were no hole in the reinforcing bar in my 91 gtr, I had to cut them with an angle grinder.

Did the vents come with a template for the bumper? Its actually pretty tricky to get the right place and straight without a template.

Bumper is easy to cut with a blade knife

My mate (SteveGTS4 on here) showed me his when the front bar was off. Whoever installed them (in Japan) had to cut the support bar to get them in. Very messy looking job!

Note: he drives a GTR.

Same here. My 93 GTR has no cutouts for N1 vents. I'm thinking of installing these vents too but without a template and having to cut the reinforcement bar, puts me off.

mine had to have the bumper support cut to install the vents. it's not so easy. you really need a nibbler or a kick ass jigsaw with a very fine pitch blade, at least 32tpi.

just measure six times and cut once...hell even i can do it...it helps if you can have a car to measure off. After you have marked it....drill the corners and use a jigsaw. I used an oxy to cut the bar reo then cleaned it up with a grinder.

before and after below.....

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
