hmmm 2jz in a 25t rolling shell would be interesting,

but then again still cheaper to wack on a 3lt bottom end an get hte same power less the high rpms ?

hmm wonder if you could bore a block to a 3lt capacity and not enlarge the stroke hence making higher rpms possible with better cams and making the 3lt power ?

how much thickness is there to play with ? I wonder if there is a block I could use to achieve what I want. .. dished head pistons, bore out a 26 block as they are thicker... mybe an N1 block thicker again..... hmmmmm

i likes my higher rpms.

hahahahahaha... is it juz me or has the topic totaly changed... i think a 2jz in a 34gtr trim would b the ultimate street car... from the pics the job looks pretty crap but maybe they already got the car that way and since it was half ruinned they thought let try something different..

i love skylines but it is common fact that 2jz and 1jz are cheaper and better engines then rb26 / 25... but for me the overall benefits of puttin a 2jz into a gtr would be hardly worth the $$$ or the hastle... but then again these guys obviously dont care about that... i actually read an article in zoom a few months ago where a guy had a 2jz lying around so he chucked it into his r32 gtst.. and now he runs easy 9s in a full trim street car with fairly mild mods (for a 9 sec car)... i guess if u got the $$$ and the means to do it then go for it but i know if i had the $$$ i would just buy a mine's gtr from japan and im sure i b more then happy...

that r32 gtst had a 7m toyota motor not a 2jz and yes it runs 9s with some mods. its from TRP workshop.

they said they are switching to a 2jz soon as the 7m is now in a datto 1200 ute

not a bad idea except for the price of a N1 block u can get a 2jz and a bit left over for a few mods...

I saw that rigoli 32 on the road not long after he built it on parramatta rd. pulled up next to him in a friends WRX and my other friend recognised Tony Rigoli. Yelled out "are you tony rigoli? how much for a 10 sec package on this wrx?", he yelled out "buy this skyline instead", and launched it doing fishy's accross three lanes up the road.

oops sorry ur right... i just dug up the article... but yeah if u can get that sort of performance with a 7m then i would love to see it with the 2jz..

How difficult would it be to engineer a 2JZ into a 33 GTS rolling shell. I was looking at sinking at least 10-15K into my RB25 but now you put ideas in my head...

i dont think that be enought for a good quality job... i know when i had a civic and wanted an engine swap the engine was around $2500 but everyone told me i will be looking at close to $10k... and that was for a simple swap with not much custom work...

I was planning on making my car a Sunday special after a few years of daily driving. Other than custom engine mounts and custom gearbox bell housing would it be to hard to bolt everything else up or is there more shit to worry about? That is to say that the 2JZ is out of a front cut and running a custom ECU with all other components in working order?

That aside how much fun would a stock looking 25T be with an 800HP 2JZ under the bonnet!

Did anyone say stealth

Yeah a nice sleeper is always cool... im not sure what else would need to be custom... but all i know is that engine swaps always blow out of proportion and out of budget... if u got the money for it then talk to a few workshops and see what they say but if it was me i would blow the 10k on the rb and have a very nice toy to play with on sundays... plus dont forget you would also need to spend money on suspension and braking...

Hehe, my old race mechanic had a 302 Windsor V8 putting out about 400hp under the bonnet of a 1976 264 Volvo. Supra 5 speed and a Jag indie rear suspention set up. That was the most insane fun car to drive in cause it came out of nowhere and you could leave it parked anywhere with the keys in the ignition n no one would take it.

Well there are bout 10000000 white R33 Gtsts floating around syd so it would be pretty cool to have a stocko stealth car that would shread anything!

dont forget u need a 5 speed box or 6 speed if ya rich, as most 2jz cuts are aristo models and auto.

w58 i think is the 1jz 5 speed box and suitable for the 2jz, they are about 2k and pretty rare to get hold of.

2jz 6 speed is some bullshit price last time i checked and not really worth it over the w58.

u got engine, box, clutch, ecu, turbo (stockies are shit), cooler, piping, engine mounts, exhuast, tailshaft, sump might be an issue?, wiring to factory dash, speedo, and general other bits and pieces. i would go a 2jz in a r33 gts-t anyday if i had the choice between that and doing a rb25 setup.

stock 2jz are making 800-900hp at wheels safely (a rare few have gone over 1000hp) in the states but remember this is on there dynos which read alot higher (someone mentions 20% higher in some other threads). but u will never see a rb26 survive for long on even 500-600hp at wheels thats for sure.

2jz ftw

i'd go a 2jz in my stagea but its 4wd :)

are there any differances between the jap spec and the US spec 2jz? i only know the US spec have steel turbine wheels, any other differance (pistons, rods, injectors)?????

wouldnt have a clue sorry, im only into nissans i have a mate into the toyotas so ive learnt alot off his work.

the 1jz box is actually the r154

2jz yank version has diff turbos, but they are still rather crap and a big single is more worthwhile and i have a funny felling they have different style injectors too, but thats only a guess.

2jz with a gt35/40 or gt40 or even t04z would be something to see :)

Not sure about the crossmember in the Skylines, but to put an aristo 2JZ into a Supra, you need the Supra rear mount sump, as the aristo is mid mount.

The R154 is the 1JZ 5spd, and the strongest option out there next to the Getgrag V160. The W58 will break far easier, and is the 7M or 2JZ-GE box.

Also I've been told Aristo's come with slightly larger steel turbo's as opposed to the quicker spooling Supra ceramics.

Also, a 1000rwhp Supra on a dynojet would be roughly an 877rwhp Supra on a Dyno Dynamics.

US Supra's have slightly smaller turbo's, but are steel wheel so can handle more boost.

Also they run500cc (i think) low impedence injectors, while the JDM run 440cc high impedence injectors.

One of the cams is also slightly larger in the US spec, but I can't remember whether it is the intake or exhaust.

Also, none of these things would make a difference when you go for a big build, as they'd all be replaced either way.

Only 1 problem with jz motors, turbos on the wrong side = no good for curcuit racing. Obviously fine for drag cars tho...

If you want 3000ccs in a gtr i think the best way to go about it is building up a a rb30 and if u need over 500hp throw the good bits inside it while ur at it....

If u want 3400ccs get a spacer kit made up for rb30 same as OS do for rb26

I also belive the head design is better in the rb26 from what ive read on here.

That said dollar for dollar the 2J is the winnah! 3000ccs >2600

Or you get heat sheilding made up for the brake and clutch master cylinder, and have the exhaust housing, exhaust manifold and dump all HPC coated.

Not exactly hard.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
