I wouldn't exactly call a R33 tall geared either, considering it's doing nearly 3 grand at 100 in fifth (I'd love a 6th gear), it still runs a 4.11 diff & can barely hit 60 in first gear & 100 in second before smaking the limiter, surely a 32 isn't geared shorter than that.

The r32's are geared noticeably shorter. Well It was noticeable to myself. :)

Diff ratio's.. As You said R33's 4.11's... R32 4.36.

All in all.. The R33 is a better bet. Its fairly cheap to whack a jap exhaust on, cheap fmic and powerfc. The R32's then don't stand a chance.

Driving experience.. I'd still have to say the R32's do feel zippier and more neutral punching them through the corners.

Looks.. R33. R32's are beginning to look a touch old. Just a touch.. lol

I am talking about the GTST. 32 GTR's in my eye's still have that tough jap muscle car look.

During compliance the 32's have to have side intrusion bars fitted. I know mines got them, great big dirty bar of metal that fills almost the complete side of the door.

Ahhh we all love the cars we drive.. I do wish I had bought a 33 to start off with but at that time they were 30k and I wasn't willing to spend that much. :)

My little old 32 was looked and felt bran spanking new. Not a mark any where on the interior.

Not sure what I'll go next, we do need a 7 seater of some sort so chances are I'll stick with a cheaper work run about. I've got my eye on a cheap R32 GTS4 auto, rb30, rb26 head a pair of 2530's or gtss's.

Obviously the car would be setup for brisk off idle acceleration, I'm not interested in high speed to be honest.

Sorry 32Gts owners but 32 GTR is the only option(unless of course you've done the RB30 option) If you want a smaller car and only a 2ltr, I'd run a 180sx Type X! The SR20 is just as good as the RB20, and the car would be way lighter! But really it comes down to what shape you like, and how old you want the car to be! If i were you i'd run your Vette down the 1/4 and keep your Line for some laps where you can appreaciate the handling of a Skyline!

Just my2c

maybee nisskid you should come for a drive with me and we'll see if u say she dont pull :P

lol well urs has had stuff done to it, i guess it probably because i see alot of r33 drivers around that have just done pod, exhuast and intercooler. Granted if u have done more to ur car its going to pull hard, but i dunno if uve been in any worked rb20's they still flex pretty hard. Now if uve been in a worked rb25 r32, well, we have a winner.

no no work done to my car just afforementioned pod, exhuast and intercooler running 8PSI 10 when its cold 11.5 if im really lucky then RPM runs out

ive been in my mate R33 gtr when it had 250 RWKW running 19psi now that was fast

Now that is a very short diff, didn't think they'd be crazy enough to make it that low. Making up for the lack of torque I guess :P

I didn't actually know they had to fit intrusion bars, goo that they made them do so though.

Maybe it was cars that were imported early on in the grey imports scheme that didn't get them done, I'm pretty sure there's some out there without them fitted.

i probably should have not mentioned FMIC, and by exhuast i mean those pissy ones with mufflers n shit :D

real men have straight thru's :)

id do hi flow cats, its not worth the 10grande max fine and defect for a gutted cat and the possibility of killing yourself if u start the car in the garage, run inside to pick up some sunnies and then inhale half a litre of carbon monoxide on the way back to the drivers seat.

lol, noone has ever been fined for having no cat. and how the f**k can i get done for one anyway? if they even bother with looking under my car, they will see the cat, and ive been through regency twice and havnt even been DB tested. they look at ur stocko exhuast (that uve put on there for the inspection) and dont even worry bout the test.

plus, once u pop, u cant stop :( backfire FTW!!

yer i get sick of hearing ppl say ZOMGwontsomeonethinkofthefumes!!!!

No ones ever been fined, or shown proof that someones received a 10k fine yet

The people who got fined the cash sold their computers so they cannot be with us today my friend. lol

I was hoping someone would laugh at my comment about picking up the sunnies and then on the stroll back to the car from the back door to the garage mr.carbon monoxide enters ur lungs and tells you to "stop breathing" lol. "stop breathing u muther f**ker im gonna kill u, hah thought it was cool with the strait thru and the flames out ur exhaust didnt ya, well now look at ya gaspin for air n shit"

Just because u remove the cat in a car doesnt mean that all of a sudden there are no noxious gasses coming out of an exhaust pipe...most people dont do it to add a flaming wank job either.

Mine was causing a restriction so i removed the restriction and picked up some free kw.

    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA
