iMmOrTaL23
Hi, guys!!! I'm a newbie, so here goes my virgin post... What are the diffferences between high-mount and low-mount turbochargers, with respect to performance and heat-dissipation?! Thanx, mates!! Adriano
Usually big turbos are high mounted as there isnt enough room to fit them low mount, almost all factory turbos are low mount, there is far less heat dissipation with a low mount, as there is generally less manifolding to radiate heat, and low mounts are cast manifolds from the factory which give off less heat. Generally IMO high mounting a standard turbo is a waste of time, all it does is create a lot more heat in the engine bay. sinistaGTR
High also generally got externally wastegated turbos, but most externally wastegated turbos are big suckers aswell Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/145895-high-mount-vs-low-mount-turbos/#findComment-2725153 Share on other sites
tridentt150v
High mounts make the plod curious!!! Low mounts look std. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/145895-high-mount-vs-low-mount-turbos/#findComment-2725569 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
I've seen a TA45 low mounted, its all to do with manifold design... although the twincam RB's leave a bit less room than thier SOHC brothers. In saying that, i had a GT30 lowmounted, which means a GT35 would fit there aswell and other frames to boot Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/145895-high-mount-vs-low-mount-turbos/#findComment-2725580 Share on other sites
dangerman4
700hp gt3540 fits fine on a low mount setup! i think the to4z is rated at 750hp, so big turbs fit nice and neat down low as well Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/145895-high-mount-vs-low-mount-turbos/#findComment-2725612 Share on other sites

sinistaGTR
well most cops now days know what there looking for....also you can low mount those tubos but, when you have a gt3040 etc a 4"intake pipe combined with a z32 or q45afm, and pod filter, abd a boost controller in there they will look anyway. But i find high mount setups are much easier for cooler piping and for external wastegates........ markimak
ther are heaps of low mount options available. essp in GTRs depends on a car. high mounts are usually for large turbos and low mounts tend to have the same exhast flange as the stock cast manifold. like ur 25/30s on a GTR.
