Well my pedal box has finally gone crack.. I got it out before I could do any more damage to it.

It still felt normal and fine to drive with but knowing they have an issue with the pedal box I decided to check it out to be sure. And....... sure enough. :)

Tomorrow I'm going to have it re welded and reinforced.

Its fairly common for the R32's to do their pedal box's in when running a heavy clutch, its not a matter of IF its a matter of WHEN. :)

I will keep you all posted how it goes.

All fixed at a bargain of a price $30 I went back 1hr later and it was done, it was done within 30mins of it being dropped off.

They said they have done many pedal box's before and there really isn't much you can do to strengthen these box's apart from weld it better.

The problem occurs because its spot welded, these spot welds break and as one pops it puts stress on the back plate that rips as the whole thing flex's.

He said it shouldn't happen again as its now welded correctly. So as for reinforcing it placing lots of metal in there. Its not going to do a great deal over simply welding the thing together properly.

I've given it a coat of rust kill paint so now to install it and I won't be making it to KFC by 6:30 thats for sure. I 'may' get there by 7 who knows. :S

same thing happened to mine but i didnt know, heard a crack ignored it then on way home one night goes crack again just snapped in half.. didnt have time to weld it so just put some metal in n screwed her back together.. should it have changed my clutches position? i mean like where it engages n that? always wanted to ask that question

After fitting the fixed pedal box its definitely a tighter.

There's no less pedal slack at the top of the pedal and so far touch wood no more crunching in fourth as the clutch now disengages correctly.

Mine still has a little flex in it due to the 1tonne clutch, I might pull it out again and weld a piece of metal from the top of the bracket on its open end to the bottom plate on both sides. May give a little better more direct clutch feel.

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
