WOW whiplash that was amazing

pixel8r i do find parking not allways easy in my line 9 times out of 10 i take 2 stabs @ getting in parks and u-turn i cant make using 3 lanes it takes a good 3.5 lanes where normal line will do it in like 2 lanes to 2.5

We had a new Silver GT stolen from work friday night!!!!!!

the keys got stolen on friday and they came back for the rest of the car during the night. Two sets of Gates were cut through to get to the FPV.

not expecting to see it in 1 piece again

:P:(

yeah true but who reviews a car like the gtr and complains because you cant park it easily? So you may have to do a 3 point turn instead of a u-turn - they made such a big deal over it...

I'm not always good at parking in my stagea and sometimes I take more than 2 goes (lol) but its the kind of thing you get used to and you just park, get out the car and not think twice about the fact you took 2/3 goes to park it right...

Anyway, there are a lot of things about that review that made me think it was biased. Obviously no mention of the gtr gearboxes since that would spoil the wrx comparo lol

anyways....moving along... :P

I just had to say, last night I had to really USE the brakes in my 33 GTST for the first time, and the stopping power was incredible! Standard brakes and normal discs, 18" rims on 235's all round, coilovers.

My old car had ABS and so I was never sure what to expect from these when I really locked them up. Slowed me right down until it locked up, and even then it stopped in its tracks. Very impressed, and I'm very happy that myself and my passengers are quite safe in this vehicle.

Me little piece of crap Corolla got defected on Friday night............ They defected it for having the track out of the guard on the drivers front wheel, and on the paperwork they put down it was a MAJOR defect, so i questioned him on how it could be a major defect and why he is sending me to Regency and why i couldn't just go to Sturt Cop Shop, and unfortunatly he showed me the book and wasn't much i could do.......

In saying all of this the cop actually rang me back the next day(must have been thinking about it/me) and said that i could take it to Sturt Cop Shop, I was cheering, couldn't believe my luck!

What a load of crap in that Autospeed review of the GT-Rs about never being able to relax while driving, put your arm on the window etc. Mine drives just as smooth as any other car I have been in.

Perhaps it's because they were reviewing a V Spec, and mentioned something about it having negative front camber :S

so non ABS brakes are better than ABS, can u tweak ABS to no go into ABS mode at the first sign of 1 wheel slightly locking due to loose or bumpy surface where all other wheels are not in danger of loosing traction

EDIT

just went to boostworx from slimjims sig

needs updateing

SAU dyno day

Sounds right for a 100% stock GTR.

Thats around 220-230fwkw.

(just realised fwkw here means 'flywheel kw')

270Nm wouldn't be right either would it - not sure how torque goes at the wheels in a manual. In an auto torque is multiplied at the wheels due to the torque converter so you get very high torque figures in autos generally. Not sure if the same is true for a manual tho - but 270Nm is definitely low...

173kw at all 4 would be about right for a stock GTR. Doesn't sound much but remember max power is only part of the equation. Its all about how quickly you get to that figure, which is where torque comes into play. Pretty sure GTR's have 400+ N-m at the engine - and every bit of extra boost will see this figure climb upwards...boost=torque.

Torque measured on a chassis dyno is dependant on things like gear selection, dyno roller radius, wheel and tyre size, torque multiplication via converter if auto, etc etc etc - about the only thing you can compare is two identical cars on the same dyno in the same gear with the same wheels and tyres at the same stage of wear.

Engine torque is a meaningful comparison, but difficult to measure or estimate from chassis dyno figures.

Thanks for that - I knew there was a reason you couldn't compare torque at the wheels from dyno readouts - but never knew why...

cheers.

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
