Someone who should by all rights be unlicensed or on a 0 point probation for the next year, continues to carry a license with no probation because someone else took the points....I LOVE double standards !

my uncle keeps asking family members for points, all up his probably lost 30+ points but hasn't lost his licsense because of different family members taking the blame each time instead of him lol

But typical of society today - noone prepared to take responsibility for their own actions.

Chris, if you elect to fight this in court, and drag the time out then you may recover enough points to hold onto your license when you eventually decide to pay the fine and a little bit extra for the privelege. They cannot remove the points until you have been found guilty or choose to pay the fine. If you state you are not guilty then they have to prove it, not just arbitrarily take the points until you prove you are not guilty. If they have then the Vic govt is taking a substantial chop at your rights, but then you are a motorist - the worst type of mass murderer ever......

Sorry to hijack, a question for GTRGeoff.....

If in a far away land, a motorist were to be caught by a fixed camera on the reverse side of a bridge doing 7km's over the limit, how can this speed be acurately measured as this motorist tells me there are no lines on the road indicating distance measured etc nor which lane the camera was focused on as there were 4 (potentially any of the space craft travelling in any lane could have commited said offence).

Any thoughts?

Al, there is a fairly detailed answer required there, but it depends on the technology used. In the case of radar we have seen parked vehicles and slow coucil buses on a huge uphill climb being booked for outrageous speeds. There is just no reasonable argument for a citation from a cameras within 10kmh of the speed limit and it should be left to the human element (Police Officer) to determine whether the speed travelled is considered dangerous, else it is just revenue raising. if its in Aus. then nearly all "certified" fix speed cameras use a pezo/pezo/pezo or pez/loop/pezo setup.

I did test some trial untis a few years back with radar but they always sucked.

Essentially my understanding is that the TIN is cancelled once you "object" and obt to take it to court. Therefore I'm hoping that when i do this I new date will be used...
