Hi,

Hello to all that remember me. It’s been a while... I hope someone local can help me out?

To cut a long story short, I have sold my GTR (pending issue is resolved) but I have been getting ignition problems at high boost for quite a while now. I was showing a customer my car and was getting these boost issues and he had a spare set of ignition coils and a wiring loom from a R33 GTR.... so we changed it over and the same issue was still present. So we changed the igniter pack also but could not get the car started. Turns out that the igniter pack was from a GTS-T and the earth pins are in different locations. So, my igniter pack is now well and truly stuffed cos I can’t get spark from #4 at all and have tried two sets of wiring looms and coil packs all with the same issue.

I have located a spare igniter pack in NSW from just jap for $200. Nissan want close to $800. Does anyone local have a spare one sitting in their garage? I will collect and pay today if anyone can help me out.

Sorry to jump on the forum again only to ask for such things, but its the best tool available to me.

I have also posted in the Forced Induction section.

See ya,

from itbmills;

I installed a new engine cover (the bit in the middle that covers the coil packs) - this allowed me to move the ignitor pack back up on top of the engine cover. I took that opportunity to make sure I had a good earth when I moved it (which I assume the guys from Mercury have not) Prior to having the engine cover on - the coils and the ignitor pack shared the same earth - and I was just using one of the screw holes that holds the coil pack (plug) leads in place I plan to make a dedicated earth strap over to the -ve battery terminal over the weekend

The user reports that "New earth for the ignitor pack fixes it"

Thanks Scott

Hi Bec, James and Paul.

It's a shame the line needs to go... woman’s hard word and just the general running costs of such a car have all caught up with me. I can no longer live in fantasy land and expect to run a GTR as a daily driver without forking out huge amounts of cash in regular intervals, those intervals just seem to be getting closer and closer every time + I have been pulled over 4 times in the last 2 months - no traffic infringements for any them just the usual bum rush and fines associated. So I decided to let it go and might get another later this year just as a weekender... got my eye on a nice one on J-Spec... but that will most probably go by the time I'm ready for another.

Good times had with you guys, shame I did not get back into the SAU thing once my car was back on the road. Melbourne GP Autosalon was a drunken haze for at least 2 of the 4 days I was there. Great event and people to be with, still have not got any shots of me with the models when I was passed out in my car... beginning to think it was all just a rumour (that’s what I'm telling myself)

Suppose this might be a goodbye post to a certain extent... so, I will take this opportunity to thank all that have helped me out over the years as I got this car with 0 that’s zero experience in regards to Skylines or GTR's (never even been for a drive in one) but the day mine landed in Oz I was almost ready for the experience as if I had owned one before. Anyway, three years later I now can pull apart most of my car and put it back together again, drive a whole lot better and unfortunately also know most of the VIC roads by laws and EPA requirements inside out.

Regards,

Robin

Turns out that I have fried my Power FC (long story) and thats why I'm not getting any spark to #4. I have replaced it with my original (re-mapped) unit that I still had in my garage and it's running sweet  - probably not making 370kw at the wheels anymore but its running on all 6.

I now have a GTR igniter pack that I do not need that I paid $190.00 for if anyone wants one. I will sell for $100

I know this will get moved - saves me staring a new thread in the for sale section. Please change headding to "GTR Igniter Pack for Sale"

Robin make sure you come to the glenny meet today. dinner at sophia's... like down the road from your place... no excuses... if you don't have a car... walk  (check events section for details)

off topic but i fried my PFC and fixed it, so it might be re-pairable

How and did you do it yourself? Is it an easy fix?

It seems that putting in the GTS-T igniter pack done the damage... but seriously, now I have the standard re-mapped ECU in I have also fixed the misfire problem cos I can rev all the way under load to 8900rpm without a problem. Where before with the PFC as sson as I hit about 6000rpm it started missing and overboosting... probably not making as much power now but at least I can use all the REVs.

Cars back up for sale as this dude is asking for a new PFC and dyno run when he contributed to the F8ck up and pushing on the sale price so I told him my final offer as is or $xx,xxx with the new ECU and dyno run to confirm last results of 367rwkw. And he has said no...

wiring loom experiment gone wrong, shorted out one of the contacts

it resulted in a burnt track on the fc board, just resoldered some wire on to it make it contact again and it worked fine, even the tune was still present

the board was phsyically burnt and smelt real bad

I will get a friend of mine to have a look tonight, but I would not have a clue about electronics and what not... He is pretty good with that sort of stuff.

Paul.... have you come across PFC misfire issues such as I described above? I was always thinking it was my ignition coils but the seem fine now?

Will try to get there... was meant to go down the beach tonight after work with friends

have a read of

http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/docs/...powerfc-faq.htm

theres a well known misfire bug covered in there, under technical issues

--> 58. My Skyline R32 GTR has a wierd misfire problem, what's wrong?

    • I thought I'd come back and add something I JUST learned. A Toyota LandCruiser with a 1HZ, mates perfectly with a bottle of Nulon brake fluid. As in, it perfectly screws in. Great make shift funnel when you cut the bottom of it off. This may work for your Corolla.   Unfortunately, tipping a 10L drum is much harder than a 4 to 6L bottle, and they no longer include the easy pour tap which was just perfection to use previously.
    • Guys since i bought r33 gts25t coupe 1994 automatic a/t(manual swap 350z gearbox)  all i got is problems, always problems. Lets start with that when i turn key into ignition(ON) fuel pump doesnt always works. Sometimes i have to turn key twice Off/on/off/on until it primes. Its new, dw300 - 340lph. My gearbox broke so i did gearbox swap, install different intake manifold, injectors and i take pipes. Car was sitting in garage for more than half a year. I did assembly all not that long ago and when i turn ignition cant hear prime. All of sudden it stopped working. Theres many videos on YouTube how to make relay mod on r33 straight from battery so i did and it doesnt work! 😰 30 - battery positive  87 - positive from fuel pump to relay 85, 86 - one of two wires from original fuel pump wires(light blue, grey) and it didn’t work. so I check on ignition and took original BLUE relays wires from trunk, next to fuses. (I believe it’s IGN+ and ECU pin 18. it didn’t work…  tried connecting (IGN+ from og relay) and (ECU 104 from 1of4 FPCM wires) to my new relay 85/86 and it didn’t work.  I unplug FPCM. Didn’t work. im thinking what’s wrong   fuel pump is working, if I leave IGN+ on 85 and 86 straight to ground it works but it’s just nonstop. Since it getting constant 12v after key in ON. light blue wire gives me 6-8v.  so how this should be connected? What causing ECU not giving — on pin? Or I did sth wrong and that’s why it doesn’t work? I need negative signal on ECU that control fuel pump. What this should be?
