Are You A Water Saver?

Now that Melbourne water supplies are at all time low, how are you saving water?

I only wash my car at the car wash every 2-3 weeks now, not weekly.

I take a leak in my back yard, hope the neighbours havent seen me nude...

i drink tank water as much as i can.and i me and the old man try to wash our cars at the same time

I never shower and clean my car weekly instead.

Only on hair wash days, which is every second day....so, I suppose, I am somewhat of a water saver then....lol

Yup.

I have 2 buckets in 2 corners of my shower - when full, these water my tomato plants.

When doing the dishes, I collect the water while im waiting for the hot stuff in a jug and that waters the roses.

I dont leave the tap running while I brush my teeth.

If you dont have one, install a toilet with a dual flush system - and always use the 1/2 flush (unless you need to use the big flush).

Also have a connector thingy and a long hose, so that when the washing machine drains it goes out onto the garden, instead of down the drain.

Quick showers.

Wash with a full load - be it clothes, dishes, etc - dont waste water on just 1/2 a load.

I saw a dude on Today show washing himself with a bucket... i looked for 5 seconds and went "na..."

But yeah I try and take short showers too.

I see little point to be honest.

When household water useage only accounts for a very small percentage of overall water use, and even smaller propotion is wasted water, its just a typical case of the Gov't looking as if they are "doing" something.

The real water wasting comes from Commerce & Industry ectors at a much higher waste and useage rate than the common household.

If you do some reasearch into the wasteage going on up in the irrigation areas up near the murray, BILLIONS of litres are lost each year because the Gov't does not deem it "cost effective" to pipe the open channels.

Now... IMO, cost should not matter at all, because once a dam is dry, its dry. Then the REAL cost will be felt

With two people in this house, we wouldnt even come half way close to that. Fair enough a house with 2 Adults and 2 kids would... but two blokes, no chance.

Very true. Commerical water saving is where its at!

BTW wtf is John Howard thinking of using Nuclear Power?? Does he know how many thousands of litres of water a day the nuclear reactors need for cooling????????? In Europe and America yes, they have plenty of water, but not in Australia... at least not the south part.

never been in the shower for any less than 20mins. i once stayed in there for 45mins but it was a very cold night with very hot water on

also when i worked on the council,if there was a major leak somewhere we would turn on fire hidgrents<spelling<and leave them over night or even more.was a massive waste of water...
