So i'm puttin a N1 pump into my 32 GTR and i can't figure out how to get the timing belt pulley off the crank shaft. Doesn't look like ya can get a puller on it and I think heating it with oxy is a little extreme just now. Anyway, any advice would be awesome. ;)

Thanks

Coop

I've searched about 40 pages and can't find anyting on this so sorry if yous have covered this one befor.

is it sealed on ther.?

i think a hydraulic puller may be in order. uve got the whole crank off.? or u just want the pulley off.? is the engine in the car or out..

Motor's in the car. But there is no room to fit the puller legs behind the pully. I just want it off so i can get the pump out. The workshop manual shows it just sliding off but it seems a little tighter than that.

there is 2 threaded holes in the front of the pulley, get a puller kit that will use 2 bolts, but it will probably break the bolts so when you have it tensioned get 2 pry bars behind the pulley and carefully work it off, use wd40 on the inside of the pulley as well.

not fun to do aye?

Thanks DVS32R. I might put some heat on it to. I'm not concerned about the oil pump seal cause it's dead.

k, i recommend trying it without the heat 1st if you havent already, oxy would be the last resource,

question- does your crank already have the wide crank oil pump drive?

do you know about the crank drive?

if your unsure when you get the pulley and oil pump off, take a pic of the crank where the oil pump was and some one will tell you.

good luck getting it all off

I know a bit about the drive and i know there are different size drives but i'll cross that bridge when i get there. Cheers

drill a few holes into it near the keyway and then hit it a few times with a chisel over the drilled section and let it crack through and then take it off. Buy a new one from nissan or holden for like 30bux and just use a new one...its alot less time consuming. Plus when you put a new one on you can put abit of nevercease on it so for next time it wont be frozen on so badly.

Will do. thanks

Thanks everybody

It's all off now. little bit of heat, a heap of wd40 and a cole chizle between the pump and pulley slipped right off.

I'll be sure to slap some anti sieze in there befor it goes back on.

Cheers Coop

Coulda always used a 2 or 3 jaw puller carefully. I hope you werent refering to the harmonic balancer being 30 bucks?? If you were your kidding yourself lol

I couldn't get the puller legs in behind it.

R33_racer was refering to the pulley in question. I know rb26 ballances are dear as.

Crank pulley is the harmonic balancer...Same thing

BTW: You got my other dream car...My two favourite cars!

Na na. we a talking about the Timing belt pulley, sits behind the ballancer. Different components alltogether.

The s15's are fun to. :/

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
