You can go 2" larger in Diameter and 1" wider with the rims (iirc, it might have changed since I last looked a few years ago) so unless your Magna came with 18" rims standard, then, yes, to legally use that sized wheel, you need an engineers certificate to say that the rim size isn't doing thing like overloading the wheel bearings/suspension components/suspension geometry.

there are so many grey spots when it comes to wheels

1 inch wider yes, but the trackwidth cannot change. Ie i can point to alot of peoples cars on this forum who only have 17's but are infact illegal.

and there is also the fact that its 2" bigger than the largest rim that came out from factory for that model, vrx come with 16's i think.

then there is the whole i can be 15mm larger in rolling diameter. So u can put really big rims on, tiny rubber, as long as the rolling diameter remains 15mm or under your fine. Best to ring an engineer and sort through it with them.

Oh, and just cause you have an engineers report, they can still defect you for that particular item, its just easier to clear ... load of crap if you ask me

http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyre...8340/0/VSI8.pdf

This is the vicroads vehicle standards info on general modifications.

Please see section 8 for the part on wheels and tyres.

You wont need an engineers and provided the 20's work out to the VSI you should have no problem clearing your defect.

meh.... i would be impressed if they were 22's.... :)

seriously though, you will need an engineers cert, or just chuck stockies back on, get it cleared, go home and replace with 20's. thats if you can get it cleared this way....

Did you also get done for the tint. It looks damn dark

No and to be honest i was a little worried about that, but the cop stood at the back of the car and said to his partner the law states you must be able to see through the back window or some shit and he could so it was okay,

God cops are dumb lol. You can have the rear window as dark as you want. You can have both the rear windows as dark as you want. Only the front passenger and driver windows have to be in the legal limit.

before u shoot ur mouth off at "dump cops" maybe u look a little closer to home.

hey looks pretty good man with the tint and wheels...I'm a soft Mitsi fan with my FTO and all..hehe I rememebr dragging heaps of doods in NSW with the hire car magna...its goes pretty well actually cos its so light.

For the chrome mitsi brothers of this world!

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
