Can someone tell me what valve sizes in RB26 and.......sorry SK :)

No Problems, valve details follow;

RB26 Valve Specs

--------------Head-------Stem------Length------Tip

Intake-----34.65mm----6.00mm----102.40mm----3.5mm

Exhaust----30.15mm----6.91mm----101.55mm----3.5mm

:P

I got my block last week and after removing the head gasket noticed that there was a '2' stamped on each of the pistons and next to each cylinder on the deck.  Is this an indication that the cylinders have been bored?  The hone in the cylinders is pretty good considering the engine has 200,000k on it

These numbers are grades or tolerances. Nissan has 5 grades for the RB30. I guess this is one reason for thier reliability.

  • 2 weeks later...

Dropped the RB30DET in last night.. ohhh it looks sooo damn sexy.. hopefully we can get it running tonight!!!

Im pretty excited  shame I have to run it in and cant hammer it straight away

how different will the rb30det sound and how different will it be to drive?

ohhh RB30DET :(

sounds very tough. Mine is quiter than Joels rb20det on idle, but my exhaust is still very restrictive...

Driving..well very diferent. Coming from the rb20 backround its a bigger step than going from the rb25 like yourself. More torque on take off.....ie wheelspin off boost

OMG. You guys have no idea how awesome a RB30DET is. i can now drive everywhere in 5th gear unless i go under 30ks an hour.. then i gotta go down to 4th.....

I am just stoaked. this thing is unbelievable.

what max power can you get outta standard rb25det injectors with a rb30det ?

Interestingly I have seen more power than when they were in the RB25DET. I believe it is because the rpm to make that power is lower, so the injectors can be open longer. An example, if I made 225 rwkw with the RB25 it would be at say 6,250 rpm. That means there is about 5/1000th's of second for each injector to be open. But if I could make say 270 rwkw with the RB30 at 5,100 rpm, then the injector could be open for 6/1000th's of second. This 1/1000th of a second longer time open means 20% more fuel, so that's why you can get 20% more power.

Obviously engine efficiency makes a difference, but I suspect that probably adds to the advantage because a fresh (run in) RB30 is proably going to be more efficient than an RB25 with the usual K's on it.

I have only one real world experience where we got 475 bhp out of the RB30 on the engine dyno. I have never seen more than the equivalent of 390 bhp out of an RB25 with the same injectors.

That should stir up some comments I am sure. :D

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
