Just scored my self a PS3, and was wondering if any Melbourne people out there have any PS3 games, or where to buy them locally?

Console came with Gundam which doesnt interest me.

Dont think blockbuster has ps3 games for rent at this stage so im stuck with a console and no games

Cheers

Patrick

at the moment you can only import games, Release dates for games are around launch here so maybe hit up play-asia, works out cheaper but the RFOM game has blood cut out of it for the Asian market so I have been told so might be better to wait for it to be released here.

this is true

BUT if you download an america save game file, the blood will be turn on... check out ps3forums.com for more details

not for PS3 games it's not. region free - finally.

BUT

normal regions still apply for DVDs, and PS2 games, and PS1 games, and there are new regions I believe for BD.

  • 3 weeks later...

as I said above. PS3 games are region free. ie there are no regions. so yes you can play and PS3 game, from any country on any PS3.

BUT

dvds, BDs etc are region encoded so you can play discs from the region that corresponds to your console only.

im thinking of grabbing a gold one from play asia, which would mean its japanese... but not 100% sure if i can play .avi or .wmv on PSP...

Also, if the PSP is japanese with english language selected, and the games were english, i wouldnt have any unnecessary japanese popping up would i?

In regards to the japanese PSP as long as the language is set to english and your playing games that support english you won't have a problem. Another thing to remember about the japanese games is that here in Australia "X" is used to confirm and "O" is used to cancel. The japanese ones are reversed "X" is back and "O" is confirm. If you are playing an Australian game then it will be setup for Australia but as I mentioned if you play a Japanese game then the confirm and cancel buttons are reversed.

Also if I remember correctly the PSP doen't support AVI files you will need to convert your movies to mp4 (I think) there is plenty of free programs to convert them for you.

Just to clarify - ps3 games are region free but im pretty sure you cant, for example, get a ntsc version of a ps2 game and play it on your ps3. ps2 and ps1 games are still region locked....

But anyway, i dont have any ps3 games yet, but have resistance and ridge racer on preorder for the 23rd!

sometimes I feel like no-one ever reads anything I post. lol this thread has become a kind of ground hog day.

Sorry BB, but I did need that clarification from spin psycle

I should have been more specific with my question, what I actually wanted to know, was "can i play my old psx + ps2 ntsc and pal games on a ps3"

......maybe i should just get the ps2 chipped, at least that way i can toss the psx and still play all my games, and then there's some space to fit another console.

well there are 3 regions for blu-ray currently i don't know of any movies that are enforcing the region locks.

A/1 North America, Central America, South America, Koreas, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

B/2 Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

C/3 India, Nepal, Mainland China, Russia, Central and South Asia.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
