Isnt a pink plate for a used private import? As in the owner had it in japan for over 12 months and then imported it to Australia.

And the green one is for regular SEVS or RAWS or whatever.

OK, after thinking about it, since it is a 91 model it must be a used private import, as only July 1992 onwards cars can be imported under SEVS/RAWS. (As Nissan sold the R32 GTR in Aus before then.)

That and the 1989 models that came in under the 15 year old scheme.

Rhett

rhett, it's a 32 mspec,so clear sailing for a 1991 import.

the pink stickers are the new compliance "plates", not just for "personal" imports.

isn't a "private" import just one you've done yourself? ie you've organised compliance, customs, shipping... etc, etc, without using ie. J-Spec, as opposed to a car you've owned outside of oz for over 12 months, that being a "personal" import?

my R34 came under SEVS, and as such... i ONLY get a sticker

it's fine imo, my car doesn't have a green plate, because it came in under SEVS. Post this thread or a link to this thread in the 'importing' section. You'll get some answers from the people in the biz from there

I'm 98% sure that under the old SEVS rules that ANY R32 older than July 1992 could not be imported, be it a GTR or GTSt or GTSt Type-M.

Under the old scheme, there were two types of compliance plates - blue ones for SEVS imports (the majority of them) and pink/orange ones for private imports - cars which the owner had in japan for at least a year, then moved to Aus and bought it over with them.

So there should never be a 90-June 92 R32 in Australia with a blue compliance plate. The 1990 to June 1992 cars must be private imports with pink/orange comp plates.

I emailed RAWS about my own one and apparently they are putting stickers rather than plates on now. I just hate how they put it on a strange angle on the strut tower rather than on the firewall. Apparently your not allowed to move it either!

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
