lol, yeah Im after at the very Least a tune at 1bar (14.7 psi?), not mucking around on 12psi when Ive got a highflowed turbo and all the support gear, and my stnd turbo was previously tuned at 12psi anyways (160awkw).

Have a Nismo fuel pressure regultor, so all should be good. Have hit the dreaded R&R at around 14psi untuned, whereas 13.5psi the engine pulls pretty hard. I think there is enough bolted on now for a good well-rehearsed tuner to tune around the stnd ecu to get the 1bar happening.

Id like to reach the 200awkw mark, but seeing this is a rwd dyno, I guess Id be disappointed if I walked out with a dyno sheet showing under 220rwkw. I feel 240rwkw should be the goal, and with my mods it should be achievable.

my engine shows that it is under 90,000kms old, never been compression tested. have a adj. exhaust cam gear wheel but wont have it put on at this stage (finances, plus I dont have the tools to DIY), got lots of other parts installed but here are the engine goodies:

New fuel filter & oil filter with Penrite 10w-50w oil

Davies Craig automatic transmission oil cooler upgrade kit

Bosch 040 fuel pump with direct battery feed at 13.8volts

Nismo adjustable fuel pressure regulator

Nissan Z32 Air Flow Meter

3inch JustJap stainless steel single dump pipe system

3inch Catco high flow catalytic converter

3inch cat-back mild steel exhaust system with quiet muffler

K&N pod filter, freshly cleaned

Cold Air Induction box with direct air feed

Radiator cold air guide

Hybrid dual stage Electronic Boost Controller

Apexi 'hybrid' front mount intercooler with custom return air feed pipe kit

Apexi boost gauge

Apexi SAFC Super Air Fuel Computer

Apexi SITC Super Ignition Timing Computer

Slide Performance bush bearing highflowed R33 turbocharger rated to 250rwkw @ 1 bar

Hey, dont knock the turbo until you've at least sampled it. Slide makes a pretty awesome piece of kit - for the budget price of the item.

yeah Deluxe, I was thinking 230-240rwkw. With a good tuner Id like to think a bit of power can be pulled, even with only the 2 piggybacks in lieu of a proper ECU. Simply cant afford a stand alone ECU currently, anyways. Also, the stnd injectors can flow around 218awkw at 100% duty cycle. So with some management of the FPR and the SAFC/SITC Im sure a decent tune can be sorted for me.

heres hoping !!

sorry fella i wasnt knocking it. just trying to lighten the mood.

Boost worx is even better, now the boys have an A/C unit 'mounted' in the overhead framework :domokun:

I spent a fair part of both Sat' and Sun' down at the workshop working on the R33, in the prime location... right under the A/C outlet *aaaahhhh*

Yeh and that installation was fantastic.......:laugh: Couldnt belive my eyes

Good to finally meet you too mate! :)

G'day Joel,

Getting pretty close now mate. It's running. We've still got a dozen or so smaller tasks to complete (mostly asthetic) and we 'may' end up having to swap the exhaust housing & wheel over if it shows in tuning that it's too large.

See attached pic, taken 2wks ago.

Ha-ha yeah mate that A/C install is a classic! But it works. Yeah good to meet you too. The wheels on your 33 look awesome!

A further update on my latest tune (first post) - I'm actually back in Adelaide now, several factors told us that Adelaide will always be home to us....

I've just driven to brisbane almost 2 weeks ago and drove back to adelaide middle of this week, and what I found was that the car was pinging a little on the 96 octane fuel when doing a bit of spirited overtaking :)

So had to take it a bit careful whilst running on the (crap) standard premium fuels. This side of Parkes there are no places I'm aware of that have 98 octane fuel so we had 2 full tanks of 96 octane until we finally got to refuel with the good stuff. It would only ping when I stomped the foot to the floor to drop it back to 2nd, so boost would hit 12psi straight away and the car would launch pretty hard (even at that speed), but on one occasion I did hear a touch of pinging so we took it a bit easier after that. So even then it wasn't pinging heaps, just on one isolated occasion...

Its not Shaun's fault. It was a very hot day when I had it tuned anyway so it was already tuned safe for hot weather and its hard to allow for lower octane fuel without sacrificing too much usable performance. Plus he did mention that I should only be cruising at under 3000rpm when on lower octane fuel so therefore there shouldn't be a problem.

On 98 octane fuel its had no trouble whatsoever, not here in ~40deg heat and not in brisbane with 35ish deg and 3 million% humidity (well close enough).

So just a word of caution to anyone driving in the country - go carefully on the 96 octane fuels. IMO there is more difference between them and BP ultimate 98 than just the octane rating.

And for the record it did run well on 96 octane fuel without any trouble when cruising at 110 and when accelerating normally up to 110.

All in all it handled the 2000km trip each way very very nicely, and still runs like a dream.

All the best with the tune next week. I guarantee you'll be happy with Shaun's work and definitely with the price.

You're gonna have one VERY quick stagea... :)

Yeh cheers mate....... But i'll take your engine bay over my wheels anyday :(

Sounds killa too!

whatsisname :

Your engine bay looks rather tidy.

I will be taking my car to Shaun once its all back and running smoothly. I need to sort out the fuel econnomy ( or lack of) and a bit of more loving for my engine.

It doesnt help having shit coil packs in missing so much that the raw fuel just goes out the exhaust. 127km at 1/2 tank. This is from filling it up on sat morning and driving it maybe 4 times since then.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
