Hey guys

My friend asked to drive my car so I let him. Anyway, he started to speed and instantly got flashed as he did so. Yeah he was stupid for doing that.. Anyway, I'm wondering how this affects me?

Does the demerit points + fine go to the driver of the vehicle at the time? Or goes to me as I'm registered under it. I mean, the fine will come to me but how do I get my friend to transfer the demerits HE got to him?

He offered to pay the fine so its fine, I'm just more worried about how it affects me, if at all.

Anyone with info or experience to this please let reply thanks

The fine will come to the person who is the registered owner of the car, as obviously the police have no way of knowing if someone else was driving the car at the time. Then, there is a section on the back where you nominate who was actually driving at the time, as far as i know you just need a few simple details plus their licence number.

Hope that helps

Cash

Cheers Cash. I was just a bit worried as I just got a new car and he was doing roughly 30-40km over limit and was worried about my license being suspended.

He's a close mate though so he's definitely willing to take the blame for everything. I just hope this incident doesn't touch my records!

just ring up the place where u have to pay it, you can tell them he was driving, and i guess he would have to confirm it, but shouldnt be a big drama, it happens alot, especially when people have too little points left, they just throw em on some-one else's licence

Ring them up when I get the fine right? Not before or anything? Also he got flashed but there were a few cars in the other lanes with him so I'm not 100% sure. Are his odds any good?

As the owner the fine will be sent in your name and you will need to fill out the Stat Dec section on the back nominating your friend as the driver and the fine will be re-issued in his name with demerit points and possible suspension. It will have no affect on your records once you nominate him.

If you ring them and say "I think I got my picture taken because i was speeding", ....that is as good as an admission of guilt.

Wait until the fine comes.

Don't pay it!.... once you've paid the fine, you've admitted to the offence.

Your friend may decide to contest any fine, ...eg: it may be his first offence and he may be able to ask that the fine be reduced to a warning based on previous good driving behaviour, or there may be other circumstances (other vehicles present as you mentioned) .......and there may not be any fine sent at all, so it's best to just wait and see.

If one comes, read the information on the fine, it will tell you what you have to do if you weren't the driver.

Follow those steps.

Good luck, and make sure that people drive safely when they're driving your car! :nyaanyaa:

Yep as they said you just have to fill out the statutory declaration (need his licence no. dwelling address. DOB and a few other details) then get it signed by a justice of peace, your law guy or someone else with legal authority (a chemist perhaps?) and mail it back. Then they'll send you a withdrawal notice and re-issue it to your mate

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
