N1GTR
Hey guys, If you havnt heard of DECA, here's what to expect: </a>Its basically a motokhana with some twisty roads, followed by a BBQ then a head to head battle against your mates on a polished concrete skidpan (no damage to tyres, front bars etc...well, unless you do something stupid). Then everyone goes and gets dinner, then starts drinking The drinking pretty much goes all night, last time i went there was strippers, lots of oversize drinks, ministry of sound had a DJ playing (im a MOS junkie) and general rowdy behaviour - Sh@un can verify this So im going back for the May one!!! Please note im organising one of these for us up here, so anyone who goes down has an advantage , date for our one is TBA. It will be decided on by the end of this week Ive organised with the organisers to (very kindly) reserve 10 spots for NSW people, so far, 3 are already taken up - so get in quick Here's the plan: Friday 11th May Meet at 10am all packed and ready to go, location TBA Lunch whenever we all get hungry, there's heaps of places for that - pubs etc along the way Arrive at Shepparton (Victorias answer to Goulburn) and settle in to the motel, have a rest then get dinner. SAUVIC arrive at all different times but we will be able to eat with some of them as some get there earlier than others Saturday 12th May 730-8am wakeup, breakfast then drive to DECA facility (just under 10 mins from accomodation) Scruitineering and sign-on etc, rev up the Victorians etc Drivers briefing is roughly 845am or 9am, then go have fun DECA ends around 430pm or so, after that, go back to the rooms, shower and put some decent clothes on. Around 7pm everybody meets for dinner, then to TacoBills for drinks (they're a good size drink).....from there, who knows what happens - it all depends on how much you drink Sunday 13th May Breakfast at McDonalds at 10am, 1045am departure for Sydney with a stop over for lunch (again, wherever looks good at the time, Sh@un and i stopped at the pub with the big submarine last time, its right on the way and the food was nice) Arrive Sydney approx just after dinnertime, so everyone has plenty of time to unpack and rest up before work on Monday So, from my last trip, here are the stats: (note, last time we left at 430pm and got slammed with traffic, aswel as getting lost....twice) Trip computer readout from my driveway on Friday night to my driveway Sunday night: Distance: 1587.76 k's Petrol used: 134.4 L's Time taken: 17 hours 22 mins Average speed: 96kph (stupid work zones) Highest temp was 38 degrees (50 mins out of Shepparton) Lowest temp was 7 degrees (on the freeway out of Wodonga) We got stuck in at least 90mins of traffic leaving Sydney, so next time those numbers should be better Im very happy with those numbers though, i was expecting it to be a lot higher, stereo was on for most of the time (big subs etc), sunroof was open and the climate control was on the whole way so thats a very good average Driving at night makes it a lot easier, but there was nothing we could do on Sunday but leave at 10am I had an absolute blast last time, the day is run very smoothly all the Vic guys are very good hosts - and are happy to welcome us to their main event of the year So, the best part (other than drinking of course), entry fees for the day are $75-80 (exact price hasnt been released), but it was $75 last time!!! CHEAP AS!!! No CAMS licence is needed either, so leave them at home And...you do NOT need head to toe clothing - all you need is fully enclosed shoes. Most of the guys were in t-shirts with shorts on, its a really laid back day You can co-enter cars aswel (2 drivers per car), so bring the girlfriend etc, or bring a mate and have a boys weekend So, who's in? Anyone in will be sent my bank details so i can prepay the Vic guys for our spots. If you're in and then drop out at the last minute without finding someone to fill the spot, i cant refund the money as it means someone in Victoria misses out....unless they get reserves, and they usually do, so dont be too worried Drivers 1. N1GTR PAID for both 2. Sh@un PAID for DECA, no accom 3. Smoky PAID...n00b 4. skylinegtts PAID 5. Beer Baron PAID 6. evil weevil PAID 7. tjandiersen PAID 8. SAM916 Just waiting for it to show up..... Snowman
Not sure if this is an option at all Steve but if you leave a day earlier Winton is open every Friday for Practise ($120). It's only half an hour from Shepparton. I plan on going to that Friday practise. Snowman
These events are perfect for noobs. It's also the reason why we get so many chicks coming as well as there is no pressure to perform and also basically little chance to damage your car. Having said that if you can get good at these events you'll be fast in all forms of motorsports.
