Just took my GTR out for abit of dragging fun 2night. Was pretty impressed at getting a 13.1 @ 106 mph for a basically stock 32 gtr with just a cat back exhaust and exedy button clutch. The factory spec is 13 flat out of factory right ?

Also something i found weird was i was just red lining 3rd gear as i crossed the finish line. That compared to my supra ( i was redlining 4th gear as i crossed the finish), just wasn't used to it. I guess that is becoz of diff gear ratio's ?

My 60' time of 1.943 is abit high right ?

Any tips on how i can lower that abit ?

Other than that i was pretty happy with it. The AWD sure is great for launches (even with street tires) compared to a rwd with street tyres aswell.

Any comments or advice is very welcome :ninja:

nice work, wat sort of mph were you doing in the supra and wat time

umm if i remember right it was 13.00 @ 111 mph

So it had a 12 in it but standard clutch and shitty street tyres restricted launches alot.

GTR should be able to manage a 12.9 easily.

Keep trying!

how should it be able to manage a 12.9 easily when they are 13 flat from factory? and i have very minimal mods. Also consider it is 16 odd years old so it wouldnt be running the factory times now days. :ninja: but ye u are right i should keep trying because practice makes perfect right :)

did u lower ur tyre pressure. and the 1.9 60 footer is a little high i think when mines a 2.0 and its a gtst

yeh i did let them down to about 20 psi in the rear. But i wasnt gettin much traction loss at all really. Yeh i have to perfect the launch and i reckon i could get the time down abit.

i have found

dont go below 20psi on street tyres (good for slicks) but with street tyres below 20psi you start to lose the bonus of letting them down (something to do with the fact they are steel belted) the best pressure is 22-25psi (depending on day)

also if you have aftermarket clutch you should be launching at about 6k for best launch (handbrake on let out clutch till just enguaging then just drop and release handbrake) , with a 4.5k launch you will be dropping of boost for short period (destroys your ET) i stuffed a launch once revs dropped to 2500 and did a 13.6

also with your trap speed of 106mph you should be running mid-high 12's

i have done a 12.7, with 60ft = 1.8 trap speed = 105mph

mods were turbo back zorst, pod filters (no shield) , 11psi boost, tune (car prob made 205rwkw) and full pressure tyres (36psi)

but it is simple as Practice makes Perfect ... play with revs on launch, dont wait till limiter to change gear (i change at 7200-7500) should be changing just after your peak power/torque

and most of all ... have fun ... but thats not hard when you own a skyline

hope that helps

Cheers

for launches in a GTRRRRR you need to launch em at about 6000RPM + then u will be amazed... ;)

But u gatta be carefull with ur diff and all that... my mate did a 12.1 in his 32gtr and he was dumping it at 7000rpm, and on stainless steel tyres.. :D and he broke his gearbox 2 days after... his gtr has a full exhaust and cusco soil overs...

Yep 5500+ I've found to be best with a gentle release of the clutch, got to try with a Jim's clutch soon.

Stainless steel tyres? They'd be a pain to keep clean and a solid ride :-)

When i went to Heathcote, my best time of the day on my stock GTR (R33) was when i changed gears earlier, i crossed the line in 4th gear. I shifted at about or just under 7K and got a 13.2 @ 106. I had a 1.9 60ft aswell, the track seemed really slick compared to the street and she was just spinning all fours, ended up launching at about 4800-5000rpm. On the street it does need 6K plus or else it will bog down (twin plate takes up all the slack instantly).

i found i got to much wheelspin doin limiter launches (strip not quite a grippy as road)

about 5800-6k is the best spot to launch mine i found (on Potenza GIII's and OS Giken twin plate clutch)

with that little bit less wheelspin she hooked up bit quicker

did limiter launch ran 12.88 did a 6k launch got 12.76

and i change gears earlier cause you can feel when she goes past her peak torque (mine approx 7500) and thats when i change

When my 32 GTR had 228rwKW it ran a 12.4 @ 181kmh. (112mph)

I'd be changing to 4th before the end of the qtr.

I'm not interested in destoying my car to shave a few tenths so stage my car at around 5500rpm, and feed the clutch out quickly, results in consistent 1.9 60fts

I went from a 340rwHP 2WD RB30ET Skyline previous and I must say launching a GTR is 110% easier and more consistant :P

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
