Hello people,

Earlier this week, myself and a few others were asked to provide some R34-GTR's for Paul Walker to do interviews with.

Quite a few interviews were done around Sydney, I'm not really sure how many in total, but I do know that a show called "The Fat" which airs on ABC (Channel 2) in Sydney on Friday the 16th of May, at 8:00pm will show one of the interviews.

It was done at the SCG and you should get to see Paul Walker and WARIO do a full on launch - right out in front of the entrance to the stadium.

Should make for good viewing. :)

Mario.

That's pretty cool tho, ppl looking around and asking for R34 GTR's... good work Mario!

Paul Walker was interviewed by Richard Wilkins on the Today show the other morning. They were standing between an MR2 and a Supra i think it was.

They got in one each and drove off, not fast - cos it looked like they were inside a showroom.

The interview was kinda funny, RW asked him if he thought the movie encourages people to street race and speed etc, and also told him that the movie won't win him any Oscars LOL

Saw some snippets of the R34 when they showed a few bits of the movie :D

To answer a few questions:

Paul Walker actually owns his own white R34-GTR VspecII and three Bitsamissing EVO-VIII's.

He is very into drifting, so much so that there is a 240SX (S14 to us guys, but with a KA24) in the works which is getting an RB26DETT transplant.

I must admit, he was very cool - he stayed in the pub with myself, Paul, David and Damon for over an hour and a half - missing two flights down to Melbourne to do Rove...

He loves his GTR, and we promised not to disclose certain aspects of what we discussed, but let's say that his attitude to rice is directly inline with most of yours and mine... :D

As for Richard Wilkins - the guy was a tosser - after doing the interview, he asked us "if we raced them" to which Paul Brell said "Yeah, on the harbour bridge and we use old ladies as witches hats..."

The guy obviously wanted an angle that "modified cars are bad, mmm kay" which is why I think on the second day we lost the more, how shall I say it, "showy" cars and just stuck to the R34-GTR's.

well i saw The Fat...for all you guys that want a copy of it, I wouldn't bother...it was mostly them teaching Paul Walker how to throw an AFL football and sledge other players (was very funny!!).

There's a few quick cuts to the cars, and he launches right at the end (like Mario said) but they hardly showed any of that stuff :P

I think that after the Richard Wilkins interview, the ABC decided to cut most of the footage.

They obvioiusly didn't want to get another "this will breed comtempt for the road rules and promote street racing" media circus started, so it was probably for the best in the end.

We have out own footage, though. You'll see it in the near future. :)

    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
    • OK, if it idles at 1000+ with the AAC, its not an idle airflow problem. The cold start valve just gives extra air when the engine is cold, but you have enough air without it to idle at 1000. I think you are back to a fuel problem, sorry. Can you see the fuel pressure staying constant or does it drop as the revs drop to a stall?
