Khoa, your a funny bugger..... :) The N1 lip is packed up ready to go mate!

I was over the GTR i'd had it 6 years, it was a pain to drive, annoying to park anywhere, I hardy ever got to use its power, it was getting very old & I hated fixing the fiddly stupid issues that might crop up.

For the 5% of the time I fanged it around didnt make up for the 95% of the time it sat around, came down to finding something I wanted to use more, was newer, was less likely to have "old car" issues, had 4 doors & was a blast to drive.

The EVO fit the bill. I didnt need eleventy billion HP anymore. Done that.

GTR's are superb cars, so much so that after my mate back in the UK bought his 6 in 1999, I hadnt even thought about them since. I really wanted a midnight purple 33 like GOLGO, infact had his for sale price been about 35K, I quite possibly would have. I even looked at ALSGTR before getting my Evo but felt the price was a little high (great car but would have preferred newer for the same $$). Then started looking at GTT's and WRX's for something a bit newer and sportier but Docklands were not the most helpful for the WRX's and at that stage, I didnt know many of the WRX club personally for advice.

James mentioned the blue VII that I now have which was on the forecourt of a place nearish to my work. Called in, went for a passenger ride, took the g/f for final approval before collecting it 6 days later.

I would still like a GTR one day and another cossie but only as second cars (at least an older GTR anyway).

They are a lot of fun and the best way I could describe them is "zippy" as they feel very light to drive. :(

Getting OLD! 26 on Saturday!

Plus, the way my car is set up, well it's not the most comfortable thing to drive on a day to day basis. Rock-hard suspension Bride-brix seat and the likes!

Plus, would like to sell her before I pile too many more k's on her.

Plus, would be nice for a change! :(

Happy birthday for tomorrow mate, you old f**ker!

I bought you a present to go with your new car

;)

On a more serious note, die.

AND on an even more serious note, I find most people who don't like Evo's are people who haven't driven them. I would love to have one as a daily, but I somehow doubt it's ability to tow the 180... get one Savva, you won't be dissapointed mate.

Here's some VII inspiration for you

Happy Birthday for Tomorrow Sav!

I will try to make it to your drinks tonight, like you 'TRIED' to make it to Sampsons Birthday last friday night (Weak Sauce). Your were really missed... NOT!! :( Only joking, It was a great night man!

Will do what i can to come!

Nice handbag Dane, looks familiar.... Chloe Paddington FTW!!

Oh Dane! You can come to my drinks tonight and hand me the purse in person so I can head-butt you in the ovaries *WHACK*; but on a more serious not *WHACK*... but seriously,

That's one nice EVO, don't really need any more convincing. Mind is made up I think (and I do realise the irony in that statement)

If I could afford a GTR, no, let me put it this way... If I could afford to keep a GTR, I would. What I need now is a change, something that's going to see me from a daily basis. I love Skylines, trust me, this isn't easy for me! I've poured my heart and soul into my car over the past 2 1/2 years. But at this stage I've got to act with my head, not my heart! And the Evo is a logical and wicked choice!

Just out of curiousity,

If your GTR was to be around 300ph, obviously will require less mantaince, a good suspension set up and lets just pretend the OLD CAR issue never was there, would you have enjoy it as much as you do now with the EVO?

I know EVOs are bloody awesome car to own (i'm jealous) but the lack of torque, lack of top end for somewhat don't serve me. Well maybe the IX has better top end (I watch BMI EVO IX review) but apart from the IX, i've driven most of the others, impressive to drive, zero counter steer, crazy grip but still something is missing, maybe torque, maybe i'm so used to the grunt of a STRAIGHT SIX :D!

i'm dying to go in an EVO. maybe someone can be generous enough to take me for a ride at the next SAU meeting?

If you mean sit in one, I am sure someone can rustle one up on Tues for that. If you mean to see how they handle, come to the May DECA up at Shepparton

No doubt I would, I still think a GTR is highly desirable, but a change was in order.

    • Dredgggggeeee time; I have recently finally started driving the car. It sat for so long that the fuel tank gave birth to rust sludge and blocked my lift pump sock and one of my walbro 460's and left grime, rust chunks and muck all through the surge tank and system. I decided to commit and pull the trigger on an oem r32 gtr fuel tank and Frenchys twin 460 / sender / surge tank hanger combo and all new larger lines and fittings etc, also boost doc heater hose kit / new heater core and a heap of other bits and shits like wideband sensor installed in the dump and Syltech iacv + lines and all wired and added to current tune. now having lightly driven it a couple times without issue, I can happily report on the hta3076 in its current tune. still no boost control switched on, 20psi gate springs, car makes 22psi at 3200rpm in 6th gear with 30-50% TPS from cruise at 100kmh. Going by the old graph, this means it should be making 300-325whp at the same numbers above. Very very responsive setup under true road driving loads. all that's left for the build is body loom + PDM, finish the remote aircon setup, install carbon fibre parts and go for full tune and 30psi. the 315 rear tyres are now performing like they're 195's, wheel spin in any gear at almost any rpm, whereas my previous setup hooked up in 3rd no issue, albeit Nt01's back then / RB25 5spd vs (new) old date r888r's Z34 6spd now, + obviously all the support upgrades I listed in the quoted post above. car sits at 1-3psi on cruise at 100kmh, expectations totally exceeded and I'm beyond stoked with all this so far. • I've also been eyeing their rear axles for my car. I purchased seat mounts from them about 7 years ago and they were hot garbage so I've been a little wary about purchasing them. With that being said, please buy them and get back to us haha.
    • Can a moderator please move this into the right category.. I've accidently put this into racing build thread 🤦🏽‍♂️
    • Being a manual, we very quickly ordered new R34 gearbox (From Nissan) and remaining parts from Kudos motorsports. Would highly recommend the team there. Ultra helpful and quick to share advice and upgrades. We are in the middle of taking the Auto out (Genuine 94,000/kms) and putting the Manual in this weekend. Part 2 of the build will include likely a Plazaman Intercooler and Plenium, Hks Exhaust with Tomei Dump (ordered).
