Back in five minutes

We are currently experiencing very high levels of traffic and our servers are overloaded. Either that, or something has gone wrong with our database.

Why not go and have a nice cup of tea and try accessing this page in five minutes?

I am excited.

Only thing that is wrong is the GTR has always has an association with the 'ring. Nurburgring in under 8 mins? The R33 did Nurburgring in 7.59 (fastest production car of its time around there). Nissan are apparently aiming for 7.28, which is f**k off fast, so I reckon realistically they are aiming for 7.40 (Porsche 911 Turbo time if I remember correctly).

And the use of a European rather than Japanese circuit is a clear indicator of just how significant the European market will be for the GT-R.

*Rather* than a Japanese circuit? The Nurburgring has always been the benchmark for testing... Nissan didn't just suddenly say "Hey! European market is huge! Gotta get some of that action... lets go to Nurburgring!" lol :wave:

GT-R32: yep you're right there, under 8 minutes for the next GT-R as quoted on that sight tells me the writer doesn't quite know what he talking about.

bloody hell this thingis gonna hammer. and its going to have a tremendous amount of torque. although, maybe a 4-litre engine is too much, how will that conflict with the high revving nature of past skylines?

am i the only one who is sad that the RB series of engines is no longer being used?

Never heard of the VQ35HR in the current Z33 series 2 and V36 sedan? 232kw @ 6,800rpm high enough for you? Granted an extra 500cc might change that a little but I'm sure Nissan can find a way to counter 'low revving nature'. I'm not agreeing that the new GT-R will be 4.0L btw, far from it.

no, i actually like the 8000rpm redline of the RB26 (let alone the 9000rpm redline of some rebuilt rb's). the sound, my god the rb sounds amazing at high revs. although i could see increased reliability with an engine that develops its peak power at a lower rpm.

I would have preferred a straight six. People have complained about the six leaving the M3s, but that car has always been about a fast 3 series, they strarted with a 4cylinder and have moved to a V8 of near twice the capacity.

The 'Skyline' has had a straight six for 50-odd years. The 'Skyline GTR' for a very long time. But this is only a 'GTR'. :wave: They are revolutionising the concept so I am happy regardless, but do prefer a straight six for sound and nostaglia reasons if I was to be picky. However there are undeniable advantages of the V6, involving packaging and mostly, cost. Bring it on.

The RB dies a f**king legend. :wave:

legendary for its infamously crap oil pumps...

the RB series of engine is 21 years old now. If they continued its production, nissan would be flogging a dead horse.

if Nissan didn't continually develop new engines, we'd still be tuning L series motors.

Yes, but the RB26 made 280ps @ 6800rpm too (same rpm as VQ35HR)... thats why I said 'is it high enough for you?'

Posted and discussed many a times in the New Skyline thread..........but hey.....why not have my say again.

Lets just say that Renault...and Gosh are only interested in Marketing and sales.....not too much about ,performance and car enthusiasts.

I mean ...Why would they take so long to produce this car...and why have they been so public with it.....maybe just checking the interest?

It is true though....most real sport car manufacturers have or have nearly gone bust or had to be bailed out.

The image is more important than the performance.

The car is for the Mums and dads and tries to market to their sporting needs....like 4 wheel drives.

Who is going to take this out to the track?..lol....Who takes their X5's out into the Bush?

If you really like fast cars...(race cars or drag cars)This thing will cost you big $$$$ to mod...because everything will have to be custom.

So keep you pennies...buy a GTR34,33or32(Depending on your pref. or $$$) modify it to your liking and never look back....you will be on a winner.

I'd say the next GT-R will be very well supported - eventually - for aftermarket tuning, so as far as custom stuff having to be made? Maybe not.

Lots of infomations have been floating around of the exact specs. As far as I know, Tremendous amount of torque ->YES.

4 litre engine -> NO. More likely 3.7l-3.8l. An 4.0 Litre six cylinder engine is plain silly for efficiency. The biggest capacity "efficient" six cylinder engine today is of Porsche 911 Carrera S, 3.8 Litre horizontal six. Note this is an N/A engine. Ford's straight sixes are in a different league.

Any larger displacement you would go V8 i.e. RS4 4.2FSI, F430 4.3l V8, NEW M3's 4.0L V8 and etc...

    • The title should have posted "EFR7670 exhaust housing selection RB26" I can seem to edit thr title on my Android.
    • I'm looking for some real world experiences/feed back from anyone who has personally ran a EFR7670 with a 1.05 exhaust housing or a .83 I'm leaning towards the .83 because its a street car used mostly for spirited driving in the canyons roads. I"m not looking for big numbers on paper. I want a responsive powerband that will be very linear to 8000 rpm. I dont mind if power remains somewhat flat but dont want power to drop off on top. The turbo I've purchased is a 1.05, although the mounting flange T3 vs T4 and internal vs external waste gates are different on both housings, I not concern about swapping parts or making fabrication mods to get what I want. Based on some of the research I've done with chat gpt, the 1.05 housing seems to be the way to go with slightly more lag and future proofing for more mods but recommends .83 for best response/street car setup. AI doesn't have the same emotions as real people driving a GTR so I think you guys will be able to give me better feed back 😀   
    • Surely somebody has one in VIC. Have you asked at any shops?  Is this the yearly inspection or did you get a canary?
    • This is where I share pain with you, @Duncan. The move to change so many cooling system pieces to plastic is a killer! Plastic end tanks and a few plastic hose flanges on my car's fail after so little time.  Curious about the need for a bigger rad, is that just for long sessions in the summer or because the car generally needs more cooling?
    • So, that is it! It is a pretty expensive process with the ATF costing 50-100 per 5 litres, and a mechanic will probably charge plenty because they don't want to do it. Still, considering how dirty my fluid was at 120,000klm I think it would be worth doing more like every 80,000 to keep the trans happy, they are very expensive to replace. The job is not that hard if you have the specialist tools so you can save a bit of money and do it yourself!
