Hi all

Well tonight i return to my car at the train station and notice a few cars over some bogan scumbags are flogging the number plates off an old subaru wagon. It took a few seconds to realise it wasnt there car and by that point they saw me and i froze just thinking f**k, they have seen i have caught them doing it and they looked at my car. I know there number plate but they saw mine and my car so can easily come back and flog mine aswell or just vandalise it. :domokun:

Are there ways to keep your number plates safe? like special screws or something?

i will rivet to your bracket thing if you want rob, but the allen keys are probably beyond those guys anyway. i dont think you will have any trouble, as thats when you will go to the police and say xyz, they wont draw attention to themselves tahts how crooks work

Couldn't help but read your from campbelltown....I've had my plates taken twice once in the car park at Ingleburn (woolies)

the second time from my front yard...rural west of Denham court.

It co-incided with the petrol prices.....haven't had a prob for a while...where did you see this happening??, alot of dead sh*ts out this way.

TBH as petrol prices rise the amount of theft of plates and the petrol drive off's (theft) have also gone through the roof probably 20 fold in last 2 years. I believe Neighbourhood watch had drive to hand out special screws to stop theft of plates.

plate theft is a common thing . if they are taking your plates , they arent targetting a "skyline" in general . it happenes to all different types of cars , and the reason it is done is to steal petrol. i know of some bad groups who would do the exact thing . so if your plates go missing - report it to the police , because for all you know your plates could of been in used in petrol theft or a robbery - who knows , but it does happen sadly . damn degenerates out there.

a good idea which i am thinking of doing , is bolting my plates , so that the bolt head - which is just a raw head with no fitting on it , is facing the front , and a bolt is on the back in the bar - that way no one can take it off unless they get the bar off . - bit extreme but i can access mine due to the fitment of my intercooler - little would they know. and would save your plates.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
