Bonnet Struts

O/K I see. That setup would require a realitively high pressure strut to work at such a tight angle, unless the bonnet fibreglas or simmilar. I took the measurements for mine off a Camry (distance from pivot points etc)

So has anybody had a stab at a 32? im curious as i had a professional strut guy have a look at my GTR and he reckons that there isnt enough room in there for struts to fit. Tein dont sell struts for 32s. (not that ive found anyways.) Nengun only sell Teins for 33's.

Kezza, long time mate. if you get a chance to have a crack at this, can you let me know pls? i wont be getting my car back from getting the rebuild for another month.

wogboy, you're actually very right sayingn that about the angles. The tein kits are pumped up mega strong.

Arep - strut guys don't know shit (beleive it or not). When I first went onto this quest, I asked a couple of them. This one guy was an absolute wanker bogan, and was really rough, and goes oh, what we'll do, is i'll make up some brackets, come down and try it on the car, then i'll adjust the brackets, come back again, i'll finalise them, then... I was like f**k off (i lived about 75 minutes away - I'm north he's south). Any reasonable fabricator would do it on the spot.

Some other dumbass was saying nah, you only need 1 strut. He was planning on putting the strut going from the strut tower, to the front of the bonnet! the point of these is to make more room, not to make some spastic sort of contraption.

Or why don't you ask rice extreme customs to make a set for you, or do they sell em?

tein do make r32 gtr kits. that is your bestoption

yea true. this strut bloke was pretty dodge. he said it wasnt worth it cos they wont fit. there will be no room for the bonnet to close.

i do like how wogboy has his setup though. back where they are has them out of the way and no damn bonnet bar in the way when workin on the front. plus they look stock as. ill hafta look into the more when i get my car back from the rebuild. Cheers

Try this place, they are in Melb. They make and sell struts for OEM's (Ford, Mitsubishi, Toyota etc). They supply the company I work for as well. Visit the web site, heaps of good info!

I think the probelm there is because they're designed for specific cars, most likely, some brackets etc will still need to be made up so that the car deosn't have to be drilled.

Do you have an r33 by anychance and are keen in workingn out a set? :P

Any progress?

only skimmed over page 2 but has anyone suggested the mounting point off a VR-VS dunny door for the ball on the gurad, they have a right angle mount with the ball hanging off that and the mount could be attached via the 1/4 panel bolt.

i am thinking of just getting some strong right angle metal and laying it over the side of the bonnet so i can attach the bonnet ball to the instead of directly to the metal.
