Hey fellas, just a thread introducing what I've been doing for the last couple of months.......

Picked this up for a low $350.00 about 5 months ago with the intention of it being a full on drift car......to look at this its nothing, yet.

1989 R31 S3 Exec, Auto, 255,00 odd k's on it with a blown head gasket.

boongaandnew004.jpg

It was straight, bar the front 2 panels and a few shopping trolley dents.

First of all out the engine and trans came along with tailshaft and exhaust.

newproject003.jpg

I manualized it pedal wise

pedalsinproject001.jpg

Then removed sound deadning and placed carpet back over the top

Next a nice little seat installation and my good old elevo drift wheel, bit of a copy of the sparco.

Did a bit of work for my sis so she bought me this 600x300x76 cooler

So overall -

D2 A31 Coilovers fully adjustable 7/5 spring rate, with s13 sr20 brakes, hubs / uprights and control arms

rb20det silvertop conversion with r32 5 speed box (manual tailshaft bolts straight up)

JJ fixed back seat with auto gauge gauges

r32 generic intercooler kit

17" Work Stich rims

lots of little bits ive missed out on.

Heaps of stuff to go, next is minispooled diff before practice in may, after that hydro handbrake. (hanny should be in before may school all going well)

Cheers for taking the time to read this old skyline thread ehehe. :(

To date the car has cost me $4,989.00 So not to bad for what it will do. :(

Yeah thats what minispool does, its a bit chunk of steel that you put in the centre of your diff replacing all spider gears etc, equalling a locked differential.....but im sure you knew that. diff is an auto ratio 3:9.1 But I want pinty ratio 4.11 ehehe.

Power mods in the future

rb25 sliding hiflow

040 fuel pump with surge setup

and remap...should see some half decent power figures.

General Mods / Work to do

Minispooled diff

25mm bolt on's all round from wheelworx

Oil filter relocation kit with oil cooler setup

New hot pipe

Bleed front brakes

Whiteline swaybar front / whiteline strut brace

Dual rear swaybars rear

3" exhaust with straigh pipes, currently exiting at the dump (yes its nice n loud)

Flush cooling system

Hydro hanny setup with vt rotors / calipers

Hook up water temp sender

Body Work

CCS Skirts / rear bar, or Laurel Skirts / rear bar. And r31house front lip copy.

I had to do this writeup really quickly as I'm at work so missed out on a few things.

These d2 Coilovers are great, damper adjustment does quite a bit but on full damper its bloody hard, card wont move its just tyre flex hehe.

Hydro setup ill be doing with a mate and just getting the master cylinder / lines from powerbrakes, we have a template for the bracket so just involves a bit of welding and brake bleeding.

One of my coilovers top studs at the top in the front is missing so if anyone knows where I could find a replacement the same or similar please let me know.

Also need a stock r32 hotpipe, coming off the turbo compressor housing that goes to the stock intercooler inlet side......if anyone on here has one please PM me.

Cheers for the nice comments, More pics as progress / budget allows. :P

yeah Pinny crown gear and Pinion would be cool.....but its not on my top of the list to do.

Hopefully with 1 bar of boost, very free flowing exhaust, fmic and remap it should make around 165 - 170rwkw....so should be aight.

Mates made 170rwkw with same mods.

Nice car man iv seen the build up on 31skylineclub.com. Im also doing up a r31 s3 rb20det silver top for drift and road use might see you out on a r31 cruz or track when i get her painted.

Not too hard mate, back needs custom top hats or u redrill the strut tops to fit 2 stud.

Fronts u need s13 control arms, hubs / stub uprights and your selection of brakes.....s13 sr20 calipers / rotors are what ive used.

It's all bolt in basically, fairly easy to do.

When you do the s13 conversion will it change the track of the wheels(the width from wheel to wheel)?

Yep track is changed, its wicked....more track the better hehe.

The s13 control arms are the main factor into it having more track. They are significantly longer.

Thats a thread showing how to do the conversion. :bunny:

Oh before I forget, few kinda daylight shots......

think its 10-15mm per side extra track, wont do boot and roof black because a mates is like that and it will just look too similar.

Also major factor you have to consider is wheel offset too, and the amount of camber being run giving it a bigger traction field on the tyre while cornering.

farken sweet car, but those coilovers are fkn shite. ive had to send more back than we sold i rekon..... one set even speared into a evo bonnet!!! strut top broke and the shaft kissed the bonnet.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
