at 80km/hr?

cant u ABS it?... too close too late?

im always worried about kangaroos when i drove from syd-adl

usually sticks behind another car

Unfortunately it all happened too quick, the ABS didn't really seem to kick in to be honest, if I had my time back I have no doubt that I could have avoided any impact of any sort, but everything is done well in hindsight I suppose. I saw the kangaroo, the thing froze, I slammed on my brakes, didn't have the wheel straight got sideways, over corrected and then locked up the wheels and hit the edge of the road and rolled off the embankment.

I handled it very poorly, but live and learn by your mistakes. I've got the car back in sydney now, so if anyone wants the thing, I'll take $5500 straight out, otherwise in 2 weeks I'll be stripping it and selling it individually.

I can relate to this...

Around 5 months back - I had a supercharged Honda Accord.... stupid me was drag-racing another car - a Turbo RX7 - basically, I was going at around 145 km/h - then I hit round-about and was airborne for like 2 seconds before hitting a phone booth then straight into someone's front yard... it was scary as... the car was onfire... the supercharger kept roaring as the peddle was damanged and stuck... the whole front dash caved in... it was so bloody scary... but eventually, the police and ambulance came... I am still fighting the legal fees as we speak... it was terrible... I had to be sawed out of the vehicle... it was not insured so I had to wear the loss myself... it created a dint in my pocket since now... that's why I ended up buying my dream car - a black R33... damn... that was an experience alright... one that I will never forget...

This is how I look at it... if I died...well, that would have been a pretty sad thing not just for myself but also for my family and wife etc... or had I survived that crash... what if I am a paraplegic or disabled? $20,000 or more is a very very cheap price to pay for my life that's why even though I am broke as - I am still content and happy... money... if you live you can make it again... I can earn $20k in 3 months or so... it will come back... but life...damn... that was scary...

Anyways, sorry to hear your situation mate... but chin up... you will bounce back very soon and let this be a life-changing incident...

Good luck, keep us postong on here...

Kevin

your just an idiot arent u.

drag racing is to be done at race ways mate not the street where other people are driving. imagine if u hit someone what would u be saying then mate

as for the kanga issue lucky u guys r ok. ive nearly hit one myself on the newell highway driving back from brissie it was like 2m tall had 5 people and my mates beemer on a work road trip its pretty scary and they come out of nowhere especially at dusk

Glad you're all basically ok.

HOWEVER ... if you see any animal within a bull's roar of the road ... SLOW DOWN, do not try and avoid it, do not try and second guess which way it will go. Slow down until you know you can get passed it with making contact.

I hit a calf many years ago. Stupid animal was crossing the road, under brakes I was veering in the opposite direction, then the stupid thing turned around and scampered right in front of the car - say goodbye to a radiator.

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
