nissky,

If your willing to lend me your car for a session I can make sure that your rears don't make it home if you like!!! (Jokes)

Will be good to have you along... another member of Team Track Day... Welcome.

Jamezilla,

Will be also good to have you out there... make sure that you bring some long gear and $20 so that you can go back down to Melb and brag about how you have been round EC in a skyline... you don't have to tell them it wasn't yours and you weren't driving!

Will update the thread as soon as I look at my bank balance, visit the forums, and your money has arrived people that have just deposited.

Dan.

Silver,,,it's a bit hard to explain but yes slotcars do have brakes,,,It's all about your motor's torque and braking only comes into effect when you get right off the throttle,,,,Ha Ha I'll be doing a lot of that on Thursday.

Dan,,,any chance we can get them to cut 8 slots in the track,,,,.

But seriously,,,,what time should I get there and if it rains (Please NO) should I use my street tyres. Duncan HELP!!!!!.

Neil.

7:30am - Arrive early so u can choose your garage and get yourself setup (remove any loose items, change tyres/brakes, etc, etc).

8:00am - Marshalls will check over your car (well walk past and look at it pretty much).

8:30am - Drivers briefing (everybody must attend) and that takes about 15-20mins.

9:00am - First cars will be on the track (group 1 - ie most experienced/fastest).

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
