About 2 weeks ago I was caught by the police for speeding in excess of 50km/hr, The officer said normally they would impound my car and put me in lockup overnight, but because he was too busy (and basically couldn't be bothered) he wrote my information on his pad and told me I would receive a court summons and probably lose my licence. I had just got my car back from the repairers after the accident I had 2 months previously so I was very pissed off. Anyway, I got the court summons in the mail and pleaded guilty. Later I received the fine from the court and to my surprise, all I got was a $300 fine. No demerit points taken off me and no licence suspension! I don't understand why or how i got off so lightly because normally it would be a $1000 fine, 7 demerits and 6 months suspension! I am very pleased about this, in fact im ecstatic! I was so worried about how I would get to and from work for the next 6 months, but now I don't have to worry. This isn't to say I haven't learnt my lesson... I definately won't be speeding again anytime soon. I just thank the judge and praise the gods that I got off so lightly! phew wee! :/

you might find that the points and fine are still to come... the $300 could be a fine for dangerous driving or something?

i find it impossible to beleive that a magistrate has looked at the details of a driver speeding 50+ over the limit and issued them a fine you would expect for half that speed and no points... no way mate... no way

the ticket infringment system is running around 3 months behind atm so for this to be all wraped up in just over 2 weeks... i wouldn't be counting my chickens before they hatch... not yet anyway.

i'll gladly cross my fingers for you, but be on the look out for post man pat.

hey man gdluck u dont' get n e dermerits hey but like godthrilla said they are way behind atm

when i got ma court summons i got the fine on the spot of 100 bucks and then like 5 motnhs later i got the court hearin i had to pay 300 also n lost 6 dermerits

n i was only 30kms over the limit unless u had a judge who was really leninent n loved 34's

gdluck n e way =)

Dam... I hope the same thing happens to me when my summons arrives :/

At over 45 km/h it has to be classed as reckless driving which is a mandatory 6 month suspension.

hope u didnt speak too soon

good luck

I think the cop felt generous, i think he downgraded your speeding charge to a lesser one... maybe.

But one the other hand, dangerous/reckless(I forget which one) driving is mandatory 6month susp. + points, but fine is at judges discretion, but can go up to $3k from memory.

yep reckless and dangerous driving is 6 months suspension

fines can go up to 2k + court fees

2 weeks to process all that is pretty damn quick, usually takes 2-3 months to get to court

Good luck mate

Just over 1 year ago I went out on a back road and hit the gas, came round a long bend and FLASH. I think I probably yelled "F*%K".. gawd damn speed camera on a back road in jandakot.

Anyways the fine came and it was 6pts and $350 for doing 128 in an 80 zone (48kph over). I think since then the money/demerit fines have gone up..

My worst was in my dads AU when I was a P plater.. 115 in a 60 zone.. was 5km/h off losing my license on the spot. Bastard got me 315m away just as I came out of a bend into view.. $350 6 points. Been flashed once in my 'line, probably 2 months ago now and haven't seen the fine yet. Other than that the last fine I got was nearly a year ago in the Barina.. was going 75 in a 60 and the smartass cop goes "She must have been screaming mate!"

Anything over 45km/h over the limit is reckless driving, Minimum suspension is 6 months.

Depending on your history I advise getting a lawyer, If you want the minimum.

1:40PM.. no wonder you face your pc to the back wall. :)

ring up the dpi and see what the status is with your license.. i'm 99% sure if you lose it/points, etc.. its a seperate letter.

hmm

well the same thing happened to my bro...

he said he pleaded guilty and didn't attend court, they sent him a fine but it didn't say he lost any points or anything. Then he called up to find out the status of his licence and they said he's lost it and he has to hand it in. About 2 months later he received the letter saying he's lost it.

I just called up then to find out the status of my licence and they said i've still got a full licence and that it hasn't been suspended... my bro said it should take effect immediately after the court date (which was almost a week ago) so hmm i better keep my fingers crossed i guess.

and for those that were wondering, yes it was considered reckless driving because its in excess of 45km/hr, which is kinda stupid considering i wasn't driving recklessly, just fast on a road where there were no cars, it was a long straight in good dry conditions during the day so the only person i could have hurt would have been myself. I pleaded guilty and said i wouldn't be attending court. Also, I wrote in the space for a comment something like "the date the offence was committed the new hoon law legislation was not in place and should therefore not apply" hehe :)

I have a good history so hopefully the $300 fine and $100 court costs is all that comes from this.

"which is kinda stupid considering i wasn't driving recklessly" "in excess of 45km/hr"

Mate you are an idiot

+1

i suppose doing a fishtail burnout is reckless but a static burnout is safe...

whats the odds-on that Bloodlust is blonde?

Yup, don't think there is one person on her who can say they are innocent of similar things but.......

Someone still has to clean the mess if you kill yourself in a car too and I can't imagine it being a nice job PLUS your family would be hurt too, remember that!

    • An update regarding the registration with the DVLA I sent off the paperwork the day after I collected the car from the port, two weeks later it was all returned with a letter explaining they have rejected the application. This was because the cheque was £20 short for the road tax (I used a price list I found online). Nevermind it is what it is, it was sent back to them the following day with a new cheque. Fast forward another 2 weeks or so, I called them for an update to be told it had been rejected. Yesterday (16th September) I received the documents back along with another letter, this time it was because I didn't put an X in one box on the V750 (personalised number plate certificate), which declared that I had the rights to the personalised number plate. Why this wasn't mentioned in the first rejection letter, I don't know, but it could have saved this headache. The documents were sent back today, so fingers crossed third times a charm and it'll FINALLY be registered on the road just in time for the bad weather (woohoo!) To cheer myself up I lowered the front 25mm, was sick of seeing it sit like a monster truck. No idea how much clearance I'll have getting on and off the driveway, I'll worry about that when I can actually drive it
    • You're going to miss not worrying about rust in the strut towers like the Skyline shitboxes out there
    • A few little updates that weren't filmed due to not taking long to do or not interesting enough for their own video. My new K&N Air Filter arrived, I went with an RU-4180 which matched the dimensions of the universal cone filter the car originally had.  The battery had gone flat, while that was charging I tidied up the spaghetti wiring at the bulk head and down the sides of the engine Next job was to swap the stereo The Kenwood harness had the female ISO plugs cut off and the male ISO plugs cut off the adaptor loom and joined with bullet connectors. I ordered in a repair loom through work and re-did it all. New Kenwood unit installed (Android Auto, DAB, Bluetooth, Reverse Camera) The bonnet/hood gas struts have been poor since collecting the car. I couldn't find any suitable replacements locally so took a chance on a pair from AliExpress.  The originals don't use a retaining clip to secure the cup onto the ball fixture, would explain why I struggled for 10-15mins trying to pry off the cups. The ball fixtures unscrew using a 12mm spanner, new ones are the same size. Sadly no photo of them fitted, you're not missing much lol The dished Momo steering wheel got replaced with my Momo Tuner, turns out I ordered counter sunk bolts for the horn trim ring (like they normally are for the steering wheel) instead of allen cap (flat seat)  A terrible photo of a Quaife style gear shift knob I've had stashed in my tool box for many years after purchasing the incorrect thread size (I can see a pattern emerging with ordering incorrect parts...) Also threw in a cup holder and a (empty) Boss Coffee can, because why not
    • GT-R clearly the better choice! The 300 is certainly not insaly fast but has a decent amount of poke. Does a nice little drift around the corners with a decent amount of throttle. It's VERY predictable in a slide too.  Feels so progressive! People probably presume there's a 25 year old driving it based on my behaviour this week! 🤣
    • Yeah Jap import. Fairlady Z then! I'm a bit the same.  They've been on my radar for a fair while but then just impulsively decided to buy one!  Was going to just buy an NA and add turbos to it later but decided to save the f'ing around and just buy the turbo version.
