Hmmm, just spoke to a guy at Shannons again asking about the cost of a hire car. Seeing as I wasn't at fault, I was thinking maybe it would be a no brainer for the other guy's insurance to cover it... apparently not so.

Basically what he said was, I will have to put it in writing as to why I need a hire car, then Shannons will submit that to the other insurer and even then there's no guarantee that the other insurer will pay for the hire car. Fair enough. All good. I can handle that.

Now, that wasn't exactly a pleasant phone call either... Despite the fact that I mentioned that I was just enquiring about it, and that I understand there's no coverage for a hire car in my policy, the person on the other end of the phone kinda sighed, then said, "there's no coverage for a hire car in your policy"....To which I had to respond to (nicely), "I understand that, that's why I mentioned it first... etc etc"....

The first few phone calls that I had with Shannons were good. The people put me at ease. I felt like they were on my side (as they should...seeing as I wasn't at fault). But right now, I don't feel so comfortable... :\

ah wells. Maybe the guy I had on the phone was having a bad day. I'm sure everything will be fine.

beats me.......useless drivers.

Best of luck

Man sorry to hear the bad news.

Did you find out from the other party why they hit you from behind?

Did you ask why they didnt see you lol?

OMG i remember ages ago..

I was sitting at the set of traffic lights (5 way in sutho shire for those who live around).. Basically i look to my left, and theres this guy just reveresing slowly.. the guy behind him beeped at him, but the guy still kept reveresing.. Slowly tapped the car behind him lol.. no idea what happened nor do i know what he was thinking at the time.. lol..

lol, I'm pretty sure kero was joking guys.

I'm sure shanons will be fine. if you don't have hire car in your policy I wouldn't get one and hope the other insurer will pay. They may not in which case you'll be out of pocket.

I have only ever made one claim against my own insurance and that was with shanons and they were excellent.

Yep, those were the lights.

I just got back from my panel beater's. He's taken photo's and written down all the damage and parts that need replacing, and he's going to go find prices now. If all goes well the car should be with him next week. He said it'd take maybe 2 weeks.

I hope it only takes 2 weeks.

I'm "working from home" today. Damn my neck and back hurt. :\

awwww :bunny: what a hassle! to be in pain and have to drive around trying to wort all that out!!!

Yeah mate I understand your problem. I too have been the victim of dumb ass useless drivers. I stop for a tree on the road unable to pass as the tree blocked my side of the road and with oncomming traffic I had to wait for a break to get around it. Then this dumb bitch just runs into the back of me at like 70km/h not even attempting to brake. Mind you this was a straight road with plenty of room to see traffic. I had headlights on andn brake lights burning but this slart still managed to hit me.

Now 4 months later and I am still without a car.

Think next time I might just take it out on the other driver a bit more and say they tripped.

Did you ask why they didnt see you lol?

Yep. Well I kinda said, "What the FU(K were you doing?" lol

He mentioned something about a CD falling down. :\

Ah well, shit happens.

I just wish my damned neck and back didn't hurt.

Ah well, shit happens.

I just wish my damned neck and back didn't hurt.

make sure you go see someone straight away!!!! And make sure it's someone good aswell!!!

the damage to my back is more than likely permanent because I didn't have the best treatment straight up.

No good man, Hope everything gets sorted out soon,

Then sue,

Sue for the hills, as I dont know what it would feel like to lose the ability to hold an erection.... Sorry to hear man, oh good luck geeting the car fixed too!

Mike

I love ya bro!

haha indeed. bye bye. :P

a good banning always brightens the day.

Bwhahaha

Beer Baron Wins Flawless Victory!

FATALITY!

Wilch I take it you didn't get pictures of the front of his car?

Mike

I actually did. I won't post them though. Just doesn't "feel" right to do so. Damage on his car compared to mine was very little though.

    • I was using the wiring diagram I have So 12.74V is coming into the rear Fuel Pump relay as I measured.  When I turn the key to ON im getting 0.6V to the Fuel Pump plug; which i assume is backfeed voltage and doesnt include the 12V from ignition power.  The rear relay is working and being triggered.  From the diagram I clearly see the rear relay 80 = Rear Relay going into the Body/H loom (R-27) 27 = Fuel Pump plug going into the Body/H loom (T-20) 40 = Short Connector (R-27) I'm reading 12.74V on the blue/black wire which is the power for the Fuel Pump   From this diagram I can see the Ignition relay goes into the front and up to the ignition  2 = Fuel Pump Relay <1M> (R-27) 37 = ING Relay <1M> I started from the pump using this reference Which the way I read it (referencing Nissan wiring color codes) is: Pin Wire Color Function 1 B/P (Black/Pink) Ground 2 L/W (Blue/White)        ECU Trigger 3 SB (Sky Blue) Fuel Pump 5 L/B (Blue/Black) 12V Constant Tested SB to SB on Fuel Pump for continuity - confirmed Tested negative on Fuel Pump to 12V battery and L/B - confirmed 12V Pulled the relay putting 12V between Pin 1 & 2 and testing continuity on Pin 3 & 4 - confirmed relay   So that has me looking at this part of the circuit to understand whats happening here...and im still confused. From best I can tell; the disconnect is back to my previous diagram; between Ignition Relay and Fuel Pump Relay...which yet again; afaik is where the immobiliser should.    Thats what I was trying to explain to GTSboy; im not trying to fix it myself; yet I seem to have to get a Masters in Electrical Engineering (while im busy doing my actual job of DevOps & Cloud Engineering) somehow.  I just wanted more expert opinions; or more so that what I tested is correct and proves it to something around that area; to go back to the alarm tech (for a 3rd time) that he needs to fix it. He keeps telling me its not the alarm. He lives on the complete other side of the city so i understand not wanting to make a trip but as I said before if its the alarm it should be up to him to fix it. But he's adament its not; even though I pointed out the FP was immobilised through the original alarm. To my mind; it seems that the ECU is sending the signal; but the ignition is not getting 12V down the line.
    • Maybe also really stiffly sprung track cars. Get the inside wheel up in a corner and all the fun stops. Also me sometimes (rarely) when I have to stand on the brake to convince the diff to drive the wheel that is still on the ground when I'm trying to diagonally get over severe driveway entrance, etc.
    • I feel like I'm missing something. You had an authorised installer come out and install a new alarm. Post install the car doesn't start, and you aren't getting the installer back to fix what they did wrong?
    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
