So I get up this morning, run out to have a look at my car's fluid levels and this is what I find:

P1020309.jpg

P1020310.jpg

Whats that? Thats my beagle's dog food under the hood of my car! How did it get there? Well I first thought it was birds...but then one piece of information solved the case for me:

P1020308.jpg

Thats Rat Poo!!!! Some how the rat(s) decided that they would hide the food in the RB25DET housing and then decide to mark their territory by leaving shit all over the engine!! Man, im soo mad!!!!! :D

I have thought about different ways to kill the rats - right now I placed rat poison out there. I have to buy more later on. If that doesnt work, Im thinking of calling the pest control. But eventually we will demolish this house anyway, so that will mean a violent end to the lives of the rat(s).

Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get rid of these little bastards??

that's pretty f#cked up

where were you going to put the rat bait?

is the car parked in a garage?

reason why i ask, is because at my work we get ALOT of labradors and beagles that come in bcoz they ate rat bait (beagles as you might know will eat anything)

so obviously make sure your dog can't get to the rat bait

what the......

thats the most random strange thing ive heard/seen in a while.....lol

chuck some of the rat poison on top of you motor at night since that seems to be the place they like to go. Just remember to remove it again before driving it....:D

We are in the process of cleaning out stuff for the hard rubbish collection (cleaned out the garage for the new car), so I have put the rat bait in a place where my beagle cant get to it....i suspect the rats might come from other houses....but cant be too sure. I traced more rat poo at hte edge of the carport/garage. There is no rat poo in the garage, so its probably somewhere outside.

And no ash - do not live in the ghettos....didnt even know there are ghettos in Vic :D

Oh....and i hope those bastards were hiding in my exhaust system, cos I had to take my car on the fwy today :P

Sooo which is the rat shit??? the potatoe gem looka likes or the stuff in the last pic cause if its the potatoe gems, man .... thats some big muthafooken rats !!!! I would get a damn gun licence and :D those rat fooks

LOL

man, i do Pest Control for a living *waits for laughs*... its good f**king money hence it funded my R32 project.

theres plenty of ways to get rid of them.. whether i use a single wax block baiting option or go for the full horns and bait the dog food with a poison dust(make sure your dog is inside for a day or two while they go to it) then they will never come back again.

shoot me a PM if you want some work done, ill do half price for SAU and NS members :D

cheers

Josh

oh and btw, and this is no sales pitch, commerical rat baits DO NOT WORK... all you will find in them is basically salt and additives. which does nothing. the stuff i use will knock them out in one single dose and they will die off within a week :P

hahaahaahah that has to be the funniest shit i've seen all week. good thing you looked under the hood b4 heading out man. might have never gotten rid of the cooked dogfood smell. and yea like said above be careful putting poison around. even if the dog cant get to it make sure its nowhere near his food, water or that it cant be moved. also seal his food up a little tighter - make it harder for them to get in

I might take your offer man....but will have to wait and see. Because our house is old, one of those rodents did manage to get into our house. I spotted him running around the lounge while watching knight rider. It saw me. I saw it. Eye contact was made. It ran in one direction, I ran in the other direction. We killed it though with the poison - hasnt set foot in the lounge in a while. It takes about 7 days to die or something.

Oh and we got possums as well in the roof. :P

Yeah, im not leaving his dog food outside at night anymore. They can go hunt for their own damn food....spence's dog food costs me quite a bit already..... I aint feeding rats too. Actually, this could be the reason why his front paw is still infected....should call the vet tommorrow and find out.

Just wondering lol.

It was more a comical post than a serious one :P

Ah...now it makes sense lol - my sis-in-law was saying that mt waverley and glen waverley are infested with rats or something.....but i cant see why that would be the case as the areas are pretty clean.

4drftn - yeah....we will see what happens this next week. I put the rat poison out there, hopefully with the beagle's acute sense of smell i would be able to track down some dead rodents in the next few days........If not, looks like Josh might have to make a visit to kill these buggers :D

its the brown/black shit in the last pic that is the real rodent shit......the other stuff is dog food. And yeah, if the "potato gem" look alike was rat poo...im packing my bags and leaving this suburb man lol

That sucks!!

Had a work mate, who lived near Emerald area and his neighbor had to get his 4 month old new car re-wired as a rat had used the wires and heat padding, in the engine bay, to make a nest. :P

How much did it cost to get his new car rewired btw? Wouldnt want that happening to us now as we just picked up the mazda from the dealership on friday.

Maybe the rats like the RB25 engine........but it also explains why me and my bro found a rotting apple core in the honda accord when we went to give it in for trade in....

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).
    • Car is on factory injectors/z32 maf/ q45 throttle body/ z32 ecu with nistune
    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
    • yeah I was shocked when I checked my spare OEM on and as below that's how they come from Nissan. (side interesting note new NEO gearbox and replacement park lack the brass bush on the tips and its just all alloy) unsure about damage to the box currently back at 1110 to be pulled down/inspected and selector fork replaced as he built it previously and given the never before seen failure on his billet forks he is replacing it under warranty. He said he has used always OEM the keyway tab without issue for years so it could be an unlucky coincidence. I did talk to him about the sharp corners and stress concentration too. Re: hard shifts i got 7+ years out of the OEM one and the fork itself failed not the keyway. so could be bad luck as I said or an age thing + heat cycles in box and during fabrication of billet?
