im just curious to see if anyone has had something similar happen to them.....

the other day i got my car picked up, they said at 7:15 am, they got there at around 8:15.

they returned it at around 11, no compaints and the tint job look schmik.

after i got my car back i thought i was go for a cruise to see what the tint was like so i cranked the stereo for around 20 mins or so and noticed distortion comming from the back 6x9's, i pulled over to check it out and they had removed them from the custom spacers to put the tint in but they didnt put them back, so they were just sitting there shaking around, i think WTF!?

went home called them up, spoke to "the boss" who apparently runs the whole thing he told me "yeah mate sorry come right over il get the guy who tinted your car this morning to put them straight back in"

so im thinking sweet

rock up, and apparently the boss hasnt even told the "tinter" that i was comming.....it gets worse...

the guy comes out to my car and twidles his thumbs for a minute and then says...

"yeah na...yeah...nah.........we dont have any power drills or anything so we cant screw them back in."!?!

i said then how did you get them out?

his reply -.....no comment.

then i said look i just want them put back in, to get the spacers and shit installed cost me almost as much as the tint itself.

his reply "yeah nah we cant put them in because we dont have a drill just go buy one and it will be easy"

mind you this place installs car alarms and shit so they clearly would.

then he asked me where i got it installed, i said GCR just around the corner.

his reply "yeah well just go there and say that you need the spacers put back in they should do it for free and if they dont they are assholes"!!@?

at this stage im getting pretty pissed off and i get the impression this guy has no idea what he is on about.

went to gary car radio, witch was busy as a mofo and now 3 days later still waiting for a time when they arnt busy to put 4 screws back into my parcel shelf.

im no handy man and as easy as it does sound to put the screws back in, i have learnt to leave shit to the professionals

and yes i know i went on and on, but you know how it is when your pissed off

My experiences with the Tint Professor are quite good - had both my cars tinted there and they've always done a great job. They do arrive hours later as promised to pick up your car, but I guess this can be excused - fact: The Tint Professor's Tinting materials is very good... best I've seen and their service is equally impressive! Must be a one-off!

Regards,

same, i got mine done at nunawading they took care of everything. the old guy/boss was pretty cool.

Regards,

ive always found with stuff like this, it's better to remove the trim/shelf/etc yourself then get them to come over or drive to them, so possibly start to learn to fiddle with little things to get an idea of how your car fits together and how things work.

there's using professionals; but keep in mind they are on a time schedule and money/next job take precedence over quality and caring about what happens with your car (to a degree).

then there's doing it yourself; which again takes time, but i have the attitude that no one can do the job to my satisfaction except me.

I Agree, I always try and do everything on my car, no one will take the time and effort you will. But if they took them out common curtesy would be to put them back in. I guess they couldn't be stuffed as this would have taken more time away from tinting another car.

Can you take it to a mates house to try assist you with the speakers???

hehe yeah the boss is a pretty cool guy, i went to nunawading too.

all in all they did do a really good job. and when i called him up to complain he said he would pay for the back speakers to be put back in and was sorry for the incon....bla bla

so i guess its not too bad its just a head cave. if they had just said "look we cant put them back in its f**king hardcore we took them out but we have no idea how to put them back in" i would have accepted it but they stuffed me around for ages and came up with shitty excuses that just made the situation even worse.

oh well these things happen. what can ya do?

i would send my gf's n12 pulsar there.........only because it doesnt have back speakers

as for friends helping me with it, check out my avatar, thats them on a good day

You know what, at the end of the day - anyone offering a service or sale of goods to you owes you a "Duty of Care" to make sure that you have got what you have paid for... this means that you are getting value for your dollar not losing out on anything - they have the responsibility to fix/ammend or uninstall anything to your vehicle should it not meet your expectation.

I would go back to them and explain this - if they do not comply, go to the Business Ombudsman and complain - either they take it the easy way or the hard way - you gotta be tough with these tradies... no offense, but you gotta be solid as them to get what you deserve.

Good luck bro, know how you feels now.

if u can't take a screw driver and put 4 screws in then u probably shouldnt be driving a modded car. seriously.

i understand the principle, but jeez....for the headaches it is clearly causing you, just do it yourself, or get a mate with half a clue.

OoOoOoOo scary scary. far out what ever will they do

I'm pretty sure a government body to protect Australian consumers was not set up to do nothing and have no power to act upon complaints & fraud. We pay their wages so we may aswell support and put them to good use.

A couple of problems I had with dodgy businesses got sorted out quick smart when I mentioned Consumer Affairs. Quite literally on the spot when I said it in front of potential customers! :D There are legal ramifications involved and potential fines. But more importantly, if you're a business owner the last thing you want is your company image to be smeared or tarnished, resulting in loss of business. In this case, the customer has every right to take the car back and have the problem fixed. If they say 'no', start taking names and their position and subsequently ask for the manager, and if he can't help me, his manager etc etc until it is resolved. Don't ever think it is ok to get f%#@ed over, even by something as trivial (to some) as this.

Good luck :D

Dont expect every manager to just crumble at your threat of consumer affairs. Get used to the idea of them telling you to go right ahead. There is a lot of red tape before it gets to the point of a business being fined. Consumer Affairs would first try to solve the dispute before taking full legal action.

A simple threat does not always do that much and will probably piss the manager off even more. Simply talking to the business owner rationally would be the most effective first option as was discovered in this thread :)

    • Hi everyone, I'm about to complete my first single turbo conversion on my R32 GTR and I thought I would post the step by steps that I will be following. I will list the parts I have / the parts I will be buying. I will be redoing this guide after I have completed the conversion. Doneeeeeeeeeee. Now I know this isn't detailed at all but I will be doing that when the conversion is done. I will be posting pics and any helpful details i can and ill make sure to fit in as much information as I can. If there's anything I should know before i do this PLEASE let me know. Stay tuned for what's next. Thanks...
    • I have wasted too much time on this, more than I am willing to admit. I hope someone can set the record straight for me.  I want to replace my Nismo (non GT pro, non GT) standard 2 way in my R33 GTST with a 1.5 way... Ideally I want to get an ATS 1.5 way Carbon LSD, but I don't want to reuse my 29 spline 5x1 axle stubs, and new 30 spline 5x1's are impossible to get a hold of ($$$), and I don't want to drop the cash on going to 6x1 stubs and axles ATM. Which leads me to the Nismo GT Pro 38420-RSS15-B5 or RSS20, as they come with new axle stubs meant for the diff, and is "Convertible" from a 2 way or 1.5 way to "Other ways", but that is where I am stuck as the documentation is a bit all over the place.  To sum up what I have found I believe the all the Nismo GT Pro PN's are convertible from 2 way, 1.5 way, and 1 way; but Nismo sells 2 skus (2 & 1.5) so people do not have to disassemble to convert it.  I found this thread on 350z but it left the question unanswered. https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/620032-nismo-gt-pro-lsd-1-5-vs-2-way-and-torque.html  Essentially the way I think it all works out is like follows...  2 way  1 way  and 1.5 way would be the center pinion shaft in the 1 way block, but with the with the center flipped 180*. So the ramped side of the pinion would face the 1 way gate and act like a ramp.    I can only get my hands on the 2 way in the states, and I am not trying to get stuffed on tariffs by ordering from Japan or anywhere else. I want to confirm that if I get the 2 way I can convert it to the 1.5.
    • Hi everyone, I have purchased my first GTR and I want to do a single turbo conversion to it. I've been doing as much research as i can and there are a few things that I can find and need to know. I need to run a coolant feed, coolant return, oil feed and oil return for my turbo setup. Here's what I know so far: On the hot side of the rb26 there is coolant feed, oil feed and oil return. Coolant return will be going around the front of the engine to where the thermostat is located. I will need to block off the rear oil return port. I will be running a turbosmart boost solenoid so any of the factory boost stuff wont be needed. Now onto what I don't know: 1. What do I do with the coolant / vacuum hardlines that run around the back of the motor?. 2. What do I block off or loop or move or remove?. I will be running the OEM intake manifold. 3. Is there anything in particular I need to buy for the cold side of the rb26?. I already have the intercooler and pipes sorted. If you have any pictures or information it would be appreciated. Thanks....
    • The fab work can be as simple as a couple of silicon hoses and clamps to the factory piping.
