Hey all,

well with these cold mornings ive loved driving my car... although the colder it is the higher my Autogauge Boost Gauge reads... it looks like its hitting 19.5 (cant really concentrate on it or id end up in the other lane).... where as my Profec is set to 18psi and never goes over 17.9 or there abouts.....

now my EBC is attached to the Fuel Reg, and the Autogauge is attached to the stock outlet on the intake manifold....

so which one would you trust.... im thinking my EBC, but just wondering why my other gauge would read higher?

THanks Yall

there is always going to be some discrepancies between different gauges. essentially they are both reading from the same place. just because the ebc is digital doesn't mean it is mroe correct. the map sensor may not be calibrated 100% correct. but then a needle guage isn't as specific when you read it. it depends on what part of the needle you read from and how well it was calibrated also. i would probably say the ebc though.

The Autogauge is an Electronic, Smoked Series.....

But im pretty sure the EBC was reading the same to the boost reading on the dyno now that i think about it.......

lower values its spot on just when it gets high it becomes inaccurate....

But $400 vs $90 is a big difference in price and quality IMO

unfortunately they are pretty crap, but what do you expect for $90 :domokun: i thought it was auto gauge from autometer but they are also average.

Get guages which have an stepping motor in it.. such as defis, pivots.. etc.. They are more accurate!!

I got a pivot one myself.. love it!! looks so much better!!

plus mine is built in electronic guage.. no need for a control unit..

but dont copy me now lol

Now im in the same boat here, bought an Auto Meter gauge new Ultra series 2 1/16" and it says im hittin 7 psi low boost and 14 on high but stock gauge reads around 6 low and +7 high, now i'm running a supposed stock r33 with an 3' turb back with dump and pod filter, i noticed that my ECU seems to be an Nismo havn't pulled it out yet could this be the culprit?,

oh im running stock intercooler too, going to start a new thread and ask.

  • 2 weeks later...

i also started noticing this today. got a sotck GTST seires 2 R33 running stock boost with only cat back exhaust. my stock boost gauge shows on full throttle running 5-6psi but my Apexi boost gauges shows 0.5bar (which im pretty sure is 7psi am i correct)

so imguessing my stock boost gauge is buggered??? or theres something wrong

the stock boost gauge on the dash does not show numbers in PSI, it has a different measurement. mmhg or something?

ahhh ok but what i ment was the stock boost gauge shows -7 0 +7.

-7=vacum obviously

0 and +7 is boost so on a stock r33 that +7 would be full stock boost so when you put your foot down at full boost needle should be at +7 yes???

mine only goes between half way between 0 and +7.

iv been told the +7 is 7psi but like you said the stock boost gauge dosnt messure in psi something different so im confused.

this goes out to r33 owners. does you boost gauge read all the way to +7 on open throttle???

my Apexi boost gauge shows 0.5 bar on open throttle so im guessing thats 7psi. am i correct?

No, if it's hits the +7 on the dash/standard gauge, that's more like 14psi

Its hould only go about half way for 7psi...so it's all good :)

BTW, i got a 2nd hand Blitz mechanical gauge of ebay deliver for about $20 and it's sweet as ! ;)

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
    • the Tomei LSD fluid with lsd kit. frustrated that it was shaking the car to crap and affecting everything else negatively, I pulled the diff last night, and removed the lsd carrier, could not find anything wrong, however it seem to be 100 locked up acceleration, and deacceleration, wondering if they sent me a 2 way not a 1.5??  either way I installed the stock open carrier back in place. test drove everything smooth as butter again. no shake, shutter, random, what felt like clutch slip and grab or drive shaft play, etc. something differently wrong in side the lsd. I might bother taking it apart (if possible) to figure out what's going on inside this carrier, as bought too long ago to return.  only draw back is its back to a one wheel wonder.
