Hello All,

Just pulled my engine out a few weeks ago and recently placed it back in the car.

While it was out fitted Twin HKS GT2530.

Just wondering what Camshafts would be best for these turbos/setup.

Wanting more Low End than Top.

What degree and lift should be good to get the FULL POTENTIAL out of the turbos?

I've asked someone in Japan and he said TOMEI 260 in and ex with 10.8 High Lift.

What are your thoughts?

Need the best option.

How much do you want to rock at the lights....?LOL

What other mods. do you have?

Have you Dumps..full exhaust?

The 9.15 Lift Tomie Poncams is a direct bolt on(Might need some new shims though).

This will also work with a standard computer..if you decide to take yours off for some reason or another.

They have the best low,mid..but not high response.

The higher the lift generally means the Higher power at higher rpm.

I have them on mine...with Garrett 2860-5(Equivalent to 2530's)

Run through the RB26 Turbo Upgrade and you will see power results...bear in mind..I have a street/track tune...

Top end power was not what I was looking for.....

EDITED....Link provided for cams and pulley set...it is cheaper .

Hey,

Good Input by all.

Hmm Is it bad to rock at the lights :D?

Get people afraid.. but wont be racing :D New Laws Kill.

Forgot to mention.

HKS Dump Pipes, Twin 3" Exhaust (through Cat), HKS F-Con (Not yet installed as still running stock cams)

"The higher the lift generally means the Higher power at higher rpm."

Very interesting. I'm hoping to take it up HIGH RPM. So looking for the best setup.

Am also looking for a street/track tune. No highway racing :D

I got rocking.

Not much..but enough to hide my face when a mum and kids stop next to me.

They might think I am a young turk..when I am a old one...lol.

Poncams....no more needed..if you don't race.

Great rock and great low to mid range......they are good at high RPM to if you have the right engine internals

that allow you to go past 9000RPM.

You can get it to rock like a bull if you like...talk to your tuner.

You will need a tune after the install....you need adjustable cam pulleys if your tuner is to get the maximum out of your set up.....but make sure you tell him were you intend to drive it.

You will need a better fuel pump...larger injectors..555 or above..and regulator if you don't have them already

Good luck.

Yes, will need a tune.

Are there big differences in a street and track tune?

few extra things forgot to mention.

2 x extra fuel pumps + surge tank, *EDIT* 660cc Injectors

I was running Tomei 260-9.15's with my 2530's and made a good improvement to midrange when I was running them.

I've gone back to standard cams on the 2860-5's however.

Hey Snowman why back to std cams?

I am on stds now and was looking at the 260 9.15 when a few $ spare. Am I wasting my time?

(By the way I am very happy with the way the std cams run at 0.85 bar but not sure with higher boost.)

You need cam gears as a min. They are worth every cent on the RB26 :D

Although the only issue i see, is the HKS F-Con.

You really really limit yourself to a tiny handful of tuners when choosing this particular ECU.

Where as any other ECU on the market just about will be tuneable by any workshop should you have issues with it at any point.

Just something to think about.

you change the cam pulleys in order to be able to tune the cam timing for what you want power curve wise. the Tomei cams installed at 0 make less power than what you can potentially make by adjusting them ,alot less.

rev210, what sort of kw difference do cam gears make, apporximately? Like the original poster I am looking at tomei poncam b's.

thanks.

james.

With 2530's my choice would be;

264's

around 9.5mm lift

any brand, I have yet to find a difference

:D cheers :)

would there be much difference between 264 9.5mm cams and the 260 9.15mm poncams in terms of power and response?

Im pretty sure tomei poncams run best at the zero setting after what I remember reading from SK posts. The other tomei cams most likely need some timing adjustments.

Correct me if Im wrong and Ill get our 32 gtr retuned with timing adjustments on the poncams :)

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
