easter 2006, you over filled your trans fluid, remember when the offical pulled you and me out of the line. you had a big pool of fluid under your car in the stagging lanes and your crew guy at the time said oops, over filled the transmission.

Nah its not ringing any bells but my memory is pretty crap lately.

Adrian are you putting slick on now or sticking with the radials?

i looked at taking the power steering off to save weight but honeslty after driving through lee's trans fluid a couple of easters ago and getting very sideways at half track, i wouldnt have like dto try and keep it off the walls without the power steering.

just find another 20hp to compensate

No danger of losing the power steering - Stuart is just a very angry man when he gets in a weight reduction type of mood. :D

Lee, radials for Sport Compact and some little slicks for the rest of the time. Slicks aren't a priority for me at the moment though.

Does weight do that much of a difference? Should I be ripping out the original fuel tank and other little things in the hopes of getting the car lighter?

I keep trying to start a diet to lose 20kgs from the drivers seat but probably easier to get it from the car...

I'll be cheering for you to take over in SRWD to give shane a run for his money... :(

Weight makes a massive difference but remember that in some classes, as with SRWD, we have minimum weights to meet. Shane and I don't have that problem because we drive tanks that only have to go 3250lbs (3100 + 150 penalty for non-OEM box) which they seem to do easy enough.

I'll just be happy to be back out there racing again and hopefully a little closer to the pointy end of the qualifying order than my normal 4th - 8th position.

the weight penalty for the trans is only in the ANDRA book, not in rays. when they merge next year there will be no weight penalty for the trans. that comes from both the box and sharpies mouth. :D

Well you just made my f**kin' day! 3120lbs here I come! Stuie, get the spanners out! :(

Stu is just sticking to his name.........doesn't want to lose the Bezerkly identity.

He's also making you a nice free flowing exhaust for the big arse turbo - he's taking a screwdriver to it!

That's okay. I don't delude myself that it's much of a street car any more. Sure it's registered but it doesn't see the street very much. The exhaust can be as screw-drivered as Stu wants :bunny:

I heard from a liitle birdie that yhe machine work will be started on your engine this week.

How terrible do nitrided crankshafts look? Like it's been sprayed with pressure pack primer....poorly!
Looks pretty big....what is it 8L?

You could give me the whole engine....that would save you 200kgs at least >_< I mean only if you really wanna save some weight. :P

8.5L. 200kg you reckon? It'd be fairly quick then!!

    • Nah that is not actually a lot. Just painting my GTR frontend and the little bits to make sideskirts/nismo flare pieces work correctly/fit on the sedan/mount up correctly came to about $7000. Is it a lot? Sure. None of this is economical. Economy would be shelling the car and buying a 2010 Corolla to commute in. The perspective of all of this is different.
    • I have the 2025 build re003s’ on my 06 XT Forester Turbo and I quite rate them for street wet and dry
    • I don't see any issues here. I've been saying all along this is a big job, the price reflects that.  When the car comes back perfect I'm sure it will feel like money well spent.
    • Remember, take original quote. Double it. Then add a bit more. It's how any project goes.
    • So, I started this repair and got as far as "fixing" the holes with some fibreglass. God all those years working on boats came back quickly. I decided I'd reach out to some rust guys just to see what they would say about it. I came across a guy about 40 mins away and went to see him. He said the windscreen needs to come out, that there might be some more bits around the windscreen and he'd quote them at the time. But his quote was $300 to remove and replace windscreen and $3k for the damage he can see. He said he could respray the roof for $1200 and the bonnet for another $800 (somebody has previously rattle canned it, its horrendous). This is $5300 + any small additional bits. It's a lot, I get that and the name of one of my fave youtube channels 'Not Economically Viable' comes to mind.  I'm not being financially rational, but I've taken him up on the quote. He's opening a new shop in November with more room, so we're waiting for that. I'll leave the currently missing headliner out until then. I'm looking forward to it being fixed and having the paint looking nice again (lots of clear coat issues on the roof too). / flame suit on.
