Hicas What The Hell Is That?

i was driving on the freeway and a yellow came on saying HICAS what the hell is that.

It's essentially 4 wheel steering.

that's the aids-ridden rear steer Nissan thought would be a good idea to fit to most of its performance cars in the late 80's and early 90's

one of the only blights on otherwise well thought out products

stands for "HIgh-Capacity Active Steering" apparently

search the forum for the (many) threads on the ways to disable it

how does the hicas actually hinder people's handling? does it over compensate or give varied reactions during hard turns

probably because your steering wheel is on crooked - have you taken it off or changed it lately? if it thinks you haev been driving in circles for say 10 min it figures something is wrong and shows the error light.
