1 Rotary in any family is enough...

I like the idea of the GTiR.

What about a Sr20DET powered Silvia/180SX ???

*Gasp* - AndyMac whats wrong with you!? YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH ROTARY.... ROTARY ROTARY ROTARY!!! ... Did someone say ROTARY?.... ROTARY!

My vote goes with SR20 S13 or an RB25 R32 - Or even a completely stock S1.5 R33. They're newer than the R32's obviously and you can get a decent-ish example for that money. They are ok on fuel. The only thing it lacks over the R32 is the slight difference in weight and the good looks, but you gain a more reliable daily...

Whichever option you choose it'll be a downgrade from the 20B >_< Are you sure you wanna do it?

Take the 12k and spend it on fuel - problem solved and you wont be driving a f*cking haridresser car as a result.

Will you please just RACE THE COSMO'S ARSE OFF!??!?! PRETTY PLEASE?!?!?!? NOW WOULD BE GOOD!!!

/yell

>_<

Ha ha - Adrian , Adrian....

I will , I am , I will !

I have realised now, that I really, really need to upgrade my transmission (It's only after driving this thing around on the power I have now that I see the light).

SO - In 2 and a bit weeks, I will have myself a fully built stage II MV Autos tranny with 3800 RPM stall. Same box has proven it's worth in SA where it ran 10.8 on a similarly spec'd Cosmo 20B.

So - YES - all in good time, my friend - It WILL happen. And when it does, I want to make it a good one :D:)

(Now I am going t be disappointed if I run a shit time) ha ha ha ha ha

GTI-R is a good choice. plus they look like a normal-ish hatch so you wont cop hassle from tha man.

I reckon you only have these choices:

GTI-R

SR20 S13

MX5

Any of them will be a good choice. GTI-R can be bought so cheaply now, and if you do decide to go nuts you could build a 10 second GTI-R pretty cheaply (compared to cosmo, or GTR etc). Plus they are fairly nice just to drive arond in.

MX5 will be much better on fuel, but looks a bit camp, and it's quite small inside so you may not be comfy in it. but it would be great fun on track and ok for just driving around.

SR20 S13 is a pretty chat car. they have horrible interior, most in your budget will be fairly shagged too, but they have SR20 turbo up front, 5spd in the middle and driving the rear wheels which is a recipe for fun. some downsides are crap brakes, 4 stud hubs and again, that nasty interior will make driving it every day pretty annoying, but it will probably be the best on track of the 3.

Its not my money so here are my suggestions!

Early 90s Supra

Early 90s Liberty RS (Nice 2.2L Boxer Noise :), ugly as sin )

Mid 90s Impreza WRX

Mid 90s 200SX (Might be a little high on the price side, as well as not being much to look at ;))

Late 80s RX-7

Of this list I'd go the Supra or Liberty. What I'd actually do is save up a little more cash and get something better :(

By the way, to get this list I used Red Book. It gives national averages for pretty much any car out there. Quite handy if you don't know what you want :domokun:

EDIT

If 88silhouette's Skyline Wagon is anything like my old one, it will chirp second. But it had nothing to do with power, it was a death trap driven by a complete idiot. But those old RB30s will out last cockroaches in my opinion.

Also...

Defect for blue lights on the front of the car? :)

http://forums.performanceforums.com/forums....php?t=67211694

it is honestly a bargain.

and he's already got recaro's in it so it's lighter than the electric seat crap

but seriously..

It is a farking good choice over the other shit mentioned here..

Ok people, I'm open to serious offers for this car so whats it going to take for me to get a sale??

I can check it out for you if you want.

I can also drive it to Sydney for ya if you want.

You pay for my flight back and food bill (which will probably be about the same as the flight cost)

Pity it's in Qld - Don't you have to get a bluey for interstate rego - with the 1J conversion, that might be difficult - It's nice though :)

    • Man, different parts but the same numbers is terrible @dbm7! And it doesn't help that most online shops don't list the part numbers at all. They just give a list of compatible models...
    • Slow when hot could also be because its getting more dynamic compression, OR things are getting a bit tighter once it is all expanded. If it were an earthing issue, typically I'd expect you to have it have issues all the time. Unless it's really a combination of both things. Where the higher compression, and things being a bit tighter, is giving that bit of extra load and you do need a slight clean up on the cables/connections.
    • Yeah, this is one of the most annoying things about nissan part numbers... I've got an unrelated example... Image is of the AT output shaft ~ they have the same part#, but clearly the shaft on the left is beefier design to that on the right ...the difference (essentially) is the 'lighter' shaft on the right, is for engines up to RB25DE (this includes RB20 variants) : the shaft on the left is for RB25/26DET(T)....are they interchangeable? Yes...but obviously one shaft is going to be stronger than the other...and, the lighter shaft is around USD115, but the heavier shaft closer to USD150...same part#... ...epc-data usually tells a tale ~ the amayama listing for 39100-23U60 has a note "Longest side is between 60 and 105 cm" ; no such info is there for 39100-23U70 ...and given the great disparity in price between the 2 parts, it makes me at least curious (to the point of caution) where the 'extra money' went? ...ie; these 2 parts have a cost difference that (to myself at least) isn't explained by 'plastic boot'...ie; with amayama there's AUD700 price difference ...plastic versus rubber?...I'm not seeing it like that...and 60cm ~ 105cm...??...that's a huge disparity....something hinky going on here... I'd try searching by VIN, not model... /2cents
    • I don't know for sure, but I'd expect them all to be interchangeable given the diff end and hub end don't move/change between any C34 series. Often Nissan will change part numbers and the aftermarket follows those year ranges; but the original part number change doesn't mean other parts won't fit. The change could be a change in material, internal parts or even just supplier. For example, all the RB gearbox to engine bolts are no longer available and there is a new part number instead. The only change is they went from cadmium plated bolts to zinc plated due to the issues manufacturing with Cadmium. They look different but work the same.
    • One year is a bit concerning. Did you try contacting GSP? It says 5 year warranty on the box if I remember correctly. I'm also running their driveshafts on my S2 Stagea.   You could check the part numbers on Amayama for your year. Here's the link for my 1998 which gives the 39100-23U60 part number. Well, that and 39100-23U70. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/trans/391 What does it say for yours?
