This is my dilemna...whether to get a 34 GTR at the end of the year or an S15

I like the idea of the GTR cos its solid as a rock, pretty damn off its tits to begin with, and most of all: its AWD

Problem with it is its damn expensive to buy in the first place :)

The S15 is my other option

I like that because its driftalicious, Can pump out 300rwkw with about 10-15k of mods(so Ive heard) and its much cheaper to buy in the first place

The only thing I can say against it is that it isnt all paw....but that isnt necessarily such a bad thing :D

What do you guys think? and why?

um - aren't they like at like opposite sides of the scale?

you'll be pushing to get 300rwkw out of an S15 without major internal work, but 250rwkw is probably pretty achieveable. It would be definitely fun, but it wouldn't be a GTR. Depends how much money you want to lose i guess - with depreciation and all..

lolz.. sam u really need to take a ~200rwkw RWD for a drive in the wet and you'll see why it can lose its fun pretty quickly :) but then again it can also be fun at the same time, so either way.

..depends how much hassle free living you want too. You'd never just drive an R34 GTR around town, leave it at a shopping centre, all that sort of thing, you'd just be worried some idiot would do something to it, either accidentally or even deliberately (there are some right #$%DFDS out there). So think of the stresses involved, never mind the $6k-$10k insurance bill ?? So much of the time you'd probably be leaving it in the garage? Not much fun in that. Even a $20k skyline you get stressed about, never mind a 70k+ one.

S15 you could thrash around, lose a couple of panels :D, pick 'em up from Nissan locally, try and snap the diff, determine at what speed the handbrake snaps, all the fun things like that, and then after a hard days workout, bang in the back all night long and not worry in the world :)

*** im going to dirty ho bitch slap u with a fat camel **** if u put the R34 GTR in contention with an S15... S15 is so not even in the same sentence even if that sentence was "omg that S15 is shit compared to the R34 GTR" cause its common knowledge and need not be mentioned in the presence of the king!!

closing thread...

i say if you want a good car, gtr...i mean if you are considering it, you probably can afford it right? even if you have to wait a bit longer. just look at them, s15 is a nice looking car, but thats about it..."a nice looking car" isnt what i see when i look at a 34 gtr...i see a ****ing awesome car, that is mean and serious performance

and it makes me get all testosterone(sp) infected and i just want to do a big "tim allen"...AAARRGGGHHH

plus you owe me a drive in a skyline!

seriously...what were you thinking?

:)

not on a gts-t in single form, in twin setup on a gtr yes very easily.

Sam u have lots of $$ so just get both, the S15 as a daily driver, and the 34GTR for the weekends and track days! :)

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
