Highly credible professional witness Wade Watson is quoted as saying "I saw both Nissan Skylines reach speeds of 539km/h before the cars were 'race braked' and their tyres popped, killing all the children at a pre-school 3 suburbs away"

I wonder how they actually found that guy though? Makes you think, who in their right mind would go on national television and say they went 290km/h!! Then again he did seem like an imbred of some sort, maybe he should stop sleeping with his sister....

There's no dragstip in SA.

Anzac Dragway (Highway) doesn't count.

----

Jacks me a little having the GTR in the banner background of the intro. ALL bar one GTR owner I know here in SA drives normal on the street.

Hit Anzac dragway friday and sat nights and see who the real hoons are. LS1/LS2 Commodores, Turbo'd Buick 3.8 V6's in everything from VC commo's to Gemini's, 1jz's in 120y's to cressy's and now emerging shiet loads of XR6T's.

The silvia's and skylines are rare to see out let alone hooning.

That's the thing fellas.... it's these little smart-allecs that give us a bad name... to the cops and the wider community in general - when they see a sports car i.e. a Skyline, they automatically think - damn, he must be a hoon... which is not true.

Farken idiot...

Grinning like an idiot. what a fool. it only takes a few of these guys to ruin the entire modified car scene.

On a side note his vy didnt look that heavily modified. i doubt he did close to 300kays without the twin turbo kit or major internal n/a work. but i guess you cant really judge from under bonnet shots

Actually, that story was not as bad as the usual tripe you see. But still, it was manufactured journalism of the back of some tragic deaths...which is pretty crappy journalism. So..

As a motoring enthusiast I was saddened to see the content of your recent story regarding the behaviour of some young drivers and road users. The consequence of such behaviour is often beyond their comprehension, though the tragic deaths of Alan and Judith Howle should shock some common sense into such individuals. Sadly, it probably wont.

I was left shaking my head regarding the character "Jono" interviewed for the story. As an owner of what is likely to be perceived as a "hoons" vehicle I am horrified that I would in some way be associated with this person because I share a common interest, being cars. Whilst I am 30 and have never been booked for speeding or any driving related offence. I am not the only enthusiast who has a clean driving record, only I do fear I am in the minority.

I write this response to your story as I feel you have not done the issue the service it requires. Firstly your use of Steve Price in the story has confused me. He calls for the crushing of cars, yet he has been convicted for 5 speeding offences and a mid range drink driving offence. Not the personality I would be using for a story regarding road safety. Surely a more suitable personality could have been found. I can readily think of 3 who would have been far more suitable as they have better knowledge of the subject matter whilst enjoying a high public profile.

Also the credibility of Jono must be called into question. As he forms the basis of the story surely his claims should have been scrutinised. I find it difficult to believe that his vehicle is able to achieve 290km/h. In the interest of good journalism perhaps its worthwhile checking the substance of what is being reported and what was his motivation for making such claims.

I implore A Current Affair that should they chose to run another story on road safety, anti social behaviour on our roads, speeding or illegal racing that more care is taken. Whilst your story is far from bad journalism, I feel it stops short of being good journalism. I would hope that ACA is about good journalism, especially if the deaths of Alan and Judith Howle are to be used as the impetus of a story. Anything less could be seen as trivialising their deaths or opportunist.

good letter man but i think the only thing that is going to change peoples attitudes is "baby was saved by a speeding comodore to its rescue"

is it just me or do all these stories not have a resolution to the problem, wait til these drivers turn 30 and we have the hole road full of hoons.

    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
