Your best off sending him a pm, but I must advise he has spent a pretty penny as his car is a drag car these days...

But he did have it road registered and road worthy for a while until he got really serious about drag racing...

SR can run that standard internals no sweat.. even on 1 bar of boost and by 3700rpm

u knw u want to be the 2nd line with a SR20 in it..

So can an RB25

Many many RB25s have made around 300rwkw on stock bottom ends, I however like to be safe hence why I have an engine built to handle 800hp when I only intended to run around 400hp

And Yes I know SRs can pull similar numbers they are however also unsafe, I like my car to be well with in limits and assuming our friend here has already popped one engine I am sure he would rather be on the safe side from now on

and sif second skyline to have an SR

25/30..going to do it, do it right. You will love it.

keep your head. Sell your bottom end for a few hundred.

Pick up a rb30 for 100 bux. cheaper can be found easy enough.

depending on power, forged spool rods for like 800-900bux should pull it up or can use standards, forged pistons for like 1350.

new bearings maybe 120, thats mains and big ends. headgasket for like 200 or less.

Just machining($1000) and assembly(fark knows, never paid anyone to assemble a motor before) required.

Exhaust will need to be modified, and ic piping, if using std inlet you might need to drop the crossmember down a little with some spacers or raise the bonnet.

There is a little bit of work involved, but if your not afraid to turn some spanners and get your hands dirty, not only can you save some money you might learn something.

Hell yes now thats a plan!!!

man i'm still considering sr20 conversion.... but also like the rb25/30 idea

i hope your joking?

i didnt think having a slow sr powered skyline is cool. Unless slow cars with small engines are considered cool nowadays?

... :D tsk tsk another SR hater..

yeah.. well ur an individual (ricer) and im sure that if i was a show car or something wanting to be different i wouldnt want to have the run of a mill RB25 in my sweet lookin skyline. i would go for something else.

personally if i was in brentons position and i had money i would go a different engine.. prob a 1UZ or 2UZ perhaps a JZ engine but a SR20 would be a nice conversion over the Rb20 25 26 and 25/30s thats been done..to death.. too many lines out ther and nothing stands out unless u have 750hp

an SR half cut is far less than a RB25 cut in similar condition. u cna use the RB25 auto if u want. which is slighty strongr than the SR i would presume.

brentons car is unique so im sure a conversion thats been done less would attract far more votes at shows than a 25/30 with 500ponies..

read up i think my opinion is valid

SRs are actaully as expensive if not more so than a 25

ok i would agree that the sr is a great motor if not one of the best 4cyl engines around tons of support and knowledge out there great little bit of gear,

BUT THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD EVER CONSIDER PUTTING ONE IN MY SKYLINE!

SR conversions are for old school datto's carollas gemi's etc. or of-course the silvia/180 lineup

x2, Imagine the devaluation when you tried to sell your car. For sale....Series 2 skyline with 4 banger. Like, WTF. ;)

yeah spoke to dan on the phone just waitin for him to email the quote

Sorry mate, I have re-sent the email. Probably best to discuss in person as customisation can be done.

Also - who told you $4k for second hand - it's more like $2k

Hey man.

How would you go with a r34 gt-t neo engine.Would it fit??As i think i can sell you one cheap complete. :)

pm. me if you are interested!! :)

yes the neo will fit. but the neo aint much different from a normal RB25. not really an upgrade imo

dude. i got one sitting at my house. take me 2 days to do the conversion.. but that engine is going into the S14 which we inspect this weekend.. he'll even have tip tronic. lol

5k S14 FTW :)

actually noel u couldnt be more wrong.. have a look. RB25 180sx are going for 17k for a 90 model.. and SR ceffys go for more than the RB ones do. and im sure a skyline with a SR20 in it would fetch more than a RB25.. why cause people like individuality.. like ur ugly ass chromies.. :)

cars with engine swaps nearly always fetch more. unless its a molested converted skyrine vs a complete stock low kms model.

    • I'll probably be putting the shit box back on the dyno again soon, I want to dial in the closed loop boost control properly. I'll have a camera facing the car/motor for fun too. Just note, there are essentially 3x 10AN inlets going into the catch can and 1x going back to the intake pipe. Most of the time the catch can "return" to the sump actually is the crank case breather, pushing air out.
    • I have the R3C with a Nismo slave and by no means does it behave like a stocker, it ain’t THAT bad. On take off just give a bit more throttle than you would say a coppermix and it’s fine. It will not slip though.
    • Okay. Final round of testing done. Got a friend to hook up a fancy scanner to the car and we also ran some compression and leakdown tests, she is healthy.  The MAF was definitely the culprit. So for future reference anyone with similar issues that find this thread. I suggest the following steps, in order of affordability:   Check your spark plugs for any fouling, replace plugs if they are bad or re adjust the gaps making it narrower (0.8mm would be good). Check every coil's resistance with a multimeter. It can be done by probing the IB and G pins on the coil pack. Resistance should be around 1.4 (+/- 0.1) Ohms Check the MAF. If you have Nissan connect or a good scanner with the 14 adapter it should allow you to see the voltage on the MAF reading should be around 1.1 - 1.2V when car is idling. But if you don't, buy a new MAF from Amazon and test, then return it. (For instance, I got a Chinese one for $40 that was reporting 1.3v on idle). If you still have scanner, you can run tests on the injectors to see if they are working, just remember to unplug the fuel pump fuse/relay and have no pressure on the line. Then listen for the noises that the injectors make. Clean/replace injectors as needed. Once you find the issue and fix, order thousands of dollars worth of OEM parts to refresh unrelated things (Optional)   PS: Thanks to the absolute legends of this forum for the responses and help to someone that went a bit over their head.
