Yes, some series 2 Neo Stagea's do not have the tipronic gearbox

Cheap base model car. They are not very common.

I would not buy it for that reason

I just had a closer look. That car is a series 1 (black dash dials, not white), so it it would not have a tipronic anyway

But my last post is still correct, very few series 2 did not have tipronic either

Did some more searching

Here is another series 2 with No tipronic, but with black dials

So my second post was wrong about it being a series 1

Maybe some of the first series 2's, nissan was cleaning out the series 1 auto gearbox cupboard, until they swapped over to the tipronic gearbox?

Yeah - I have seen a very similar bastard child S2 tha had no triptronic. It did have the white faced gauges though, and it also had the Neo engine so I have no answers for you there. I can say that the one I saw I would still consider because it had a very unique level of trim and some very nice bits 'n pieces (Dayz bar, among others)

If you like the car then just evaluate it on its own merits, not wether it has everything a RS4 has. You may even save a few bucks on it and it would be a great base for a manual conversion later on.

hmm can we call it a S1.5 stagea? (joking).

I'm assuming it does still have the NEO engine?

but no transmission oil cooler? (guessing).

I cant imagine resale value of these models being any higher than a standard S1. Just my opinion though.

looks like a 25x series to me which did come with leather and wood satnav etc but black dash and no triptronic there was a red one on jpsec for about 12 months like it...............http://history.nissan.co.jp/STAGEA/PAGES/MC0831/index2.html

Mike is absolutley correct!

This is a 25(t) X FOUR with optional olive grey leather (heated) seats. (velour was standard)

It has the optional Momo Wood combi steering wheel

All the X & G series came only with the E-ATx box (non tiptronic)

This is NOT a prime edition.

Is it a 98 model....they seem to have different front grill compared to S1 and S2 versions. This may be the case for the car you are looking at. Pretty sure these ones do not have the NEO RB hence no tiptronic.

EDIT: Just saw post #6 about 2000 model.....there goes my theory blown out the door. :P

The grills with the bars in them are the lower-grade X- and G-spec models. This one below is a WH-C34 20G, which means it has an RB20DE and auto box. The series 1 version of the 20G didn't even have DOHC - how much would that suck! A two-litre, single-cam, automatic struggling with the weight of a Stagea...

    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
    • Do you have some data like fuel pressure? It's really hard to say if you're still fighting a fuel system issue at this point. Could be something weird like the FPCM dipping out.
    • Yeah in that case, pulling the dent out. Event a very slight dent can create a lot of work filler-wise and there is a strong chance the panel won't be the factory shape when you are done (as the dent will result in a new high point created somewhere, then everything is brought up to that new high point... but the panel shouldn't be that high if that makes sense).  So you've filled and primed the panel and it is flat, why would you go back and remove the primer and add more filler?
    • Something else I have been faffing with while the car was off the road is making the AC work. Assuming the car isn't at a thermal limit the idea of having AC while waiting in line to go on track sounds delightful. I have actually been lugging around the weight of the entire system since 2018 when the RB25NEO went in without it working at all.  The main reason was in the first few events before I got around to re-gassing it the rubber hose that runs under the manifold had the factory heat wrap/sleeve fail resulting in this: ~2 years ago I purchased a complete used R32 AC line set but when I finally went to install it the line i needed was different where the expansion section is I found a local place that was able to replace the rubber section and re-crimp. They also added some modern heat sleeve to the hose Tight fit but fingers crossed this is the last physical piece of the puzzle needed
    • the top black section is bonded to the silver section with some form of rubber. I assume to isolated NVH from the box
