Hi Mate, auto starts are suppose to be ilegal or some shit, but i have one, it only works from the button.

My allarm need the car to be in Neutral and hand brake on before it activates. When activated, if the key is not inserted in 15 seconds, or the brake or clutch or gear pressed/selected, without the cey the car shuts off, goes into alarm mode and won't let you start it unitll you desable the impboliser.

It is great for freaking people out. My also has the output to turn a heater on but the R33's don't have a secondary heater input.

The alarm allows up to 8 minuts of preheat time, but i haven't changed this yet.

ALSO if the car is started ad droven away by somone, if they are within range, the alarm will switch the motor off from the key aswell.

It's more wenk factor, but essentially it was there so we made it all work.

Not sure what brand mine is, and i do agree it is ilegal and if stuffed up, propably bad too, like starting in gear and so forth.

I'm not sure about the easie to get arround part. My alarm has 3 points of imobolisation and 3 poits of auto start, esentially making it 6 poits, as eaven without autostart, all the correct points need to be deactivated to start the car.

paolo,

on auto cars I'm not biased - I WATCHED a MANUAL VEHICLE start and PIN a 5 y/o girl TO A WALL - I have a REASON for stating what I do. I was not responsible for the work on that car but I knew FULL well how it happened. it had a makeshift neutral safety switch that failed - car was IN GEAR and it started.

they are good for warming up or cooling cars off on seasonal times but not much else. I see it as a 'look at me ' thing.

on my mates car he hit the remote start button, car kept on cranking but wouldn't start, we walked over to see what was going on and BANG? it backfired from all the fuel, back out the intake and blew the side out of his custom plenum.

i've also heard of them doing damage to starter motors.

the car cant move when its activated in gear..

it will just stall? Chris?

Hey...........

The only car that will not move is an automatic or a car with a neutral detect switch.

Every other car will start and move or atleast jump then stall

Dont kid yourself..

further proves your 1 track minded views on everything in a negative fashion. list some pros.

1 track mind?

I thought he just specified it can be DEADLY if not wired in correctly or if there is a malfunction. What pros are you looking for when the damn thing is a potential death trap?

And how do you people think a remote start actually starts the car? Well let a professional explain it to you.

In order to crank and start a vehicle you need to have 12V across the ignition wire, and 12v for a short period around 1-3 seconds on the starter wire. Once you have these two, the starter will turn the engine over, and the ignition will ignite the fuel. CAR STARTS.

Now what makes you think that your car is now not easy to steal? Where do you pick up your ignition and starter points? AFTER YOUR IMMOBILISER, otherwise its not going to work. So you have just given a thief an easy way to HOTWIRE YOUR CAR just by looking at your aftermarket wiring. Your immobiliser and your remotes are now useless. All someone has to do is crank the car start and drive off. Your remote which claims a KM distance has actually just been diminished to 200 metres due to buildings and trees and what not because it work on an FM band.

Dont kid yourself there is no PRO'S to a remote start alarm.

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
