If we're still talking absolute then its 30 in/hg. google "kpa in/hg conversion" and hit "i'm feeling lucky"...(duh)

If you're talking gauge, then 0 is 0 in any unit....

I heard you're offering drives in your car at power cruise... is it cool if you watch from sidelines? I want to take some friends down the straight... thanks champ

but srsly, gimme a passenger if i go, I've only ever seen this thing on the dyno...

what sort of rpm are u gonna spin this motor upto Paul? i assume your running the external oil pump setup too? I also run the similiar cams from what the specs posted on the last page were anyway, and my vacuum is about 6 below the 0 mark on my autometer boost gauge at idle and made for some real bad braking issues.

ill rev it to 9000 on pump...no more yet. Normally i like to see 9500rpm when racing with better fuel before i shift, as its still making power and good torque at that level.

Still running a JUN oil pump...no external yet.

did a nice safe tune for pump. The car was making 450KW or 600hp at around 21psi, a nice 11.5 AFR with the timing advanced 17degrees. The turbo makes full boost by 5500rpm with the external gate spring pressure only (no electronic boost control). Rev's were limited to 8500rpm, so with some race fuel, a leaner mixture, some more ignition advance, another 14psi of boost and some NOS...this things going to really move.

Big thanks to the Guilt-Tripper for crunching the numbers into the Vi-PEC V88...a great job done mate.

Yeah it was a long day.. Lots of work was done to the car to prepare it for the Dyno. I was pretty fussy and was starting to annoy paul with some of the requests before i was ready to tune it. Everything got sorted out and we only had a few hours left to tune it.

This car is awesome. So tough its just amazing how good the engine is, you can tell that it was built by a true professional *cough paul Red R Racing cough* lol :P

The gearbox took a bit to get used too, I connected Mark @ Godzilla Motorsport to have a look at the map and give it a once over before going over 4000rpm and we had a couple of things that needed to be changed, after Mark was happy with the setup it was smooth sailing all the way.. There was only a couple of videos taken because Paul was too busy making sure the turbo drain was not leaking, just as we were ready to start power runs it was decided to stop and fix the issue before taking the revs up anymore.

What AFR's will you aim at as a max on pump98?

Where its at now...this tune is only set-up to run around town...im not interested in running the engine any harder on pump. Ive built this car run times as its main goal, to achieve this the engine will have to be reasonably stressed to make the power required. The ultra consistent (and ultra expensive) leaded fuel we will be using is the only petrol based product that is capable of supporting the power at a reduced risk of engine damage. To unnecessarily push the engine on an unleaded fuel is a waste of time and money. This is why we limited ourselves to the parameters Mark set when tuning it, i.e. 8500RPM 11.5AFR 24psi and 18deg. We actually tuned it under all these levels as they were advised as a maximum and not a target to reach.

Mark will be coming down next month to perform a full race fuel tune and help prep the car for the upcoming Sport Compact drag event in Sydney. He seems to think around 35psi+ is where this turbo will see the real power made. We have the spray as a back-up if the power is not quite where we think it needs to be.

We changed to a different style of plug today and did a few runs. It instantly made a 15KW gain and the engine actually netted an increase of 1psi in boost due to improved combustion. Nice

465KW to run around town on is enough to have fun with.

Guilt-Toy has got some vids to post up...i forgot to grab a print of the curve before i left today...will grab one tomm.

Well done on the results on such little boost paul, should make big power when you turn it up and tune on better fuel.

Interesting results you got from that plug change, what were the 2 different plugs?

thanks sky...the result was only 2kw short of its best ever pump fuel figure. Considering how hard we used to push the pump fuel tunes its really impressive to almost top the figure given the limits set.

the plugs were everyones favorite BCPR7ES's....we ran something colder with different style electrode...even they were not the optimum plug for the application.

i still think the plugs were not the problem why it was breaking down. i think it was the really hot fuel in the tank

It only did it when we went for more boost and sounded awfully like ignition breakdown so im tending to agree with her. Disagreeing with Stace is not a smart practice. :P

    • Hang on. Let me get this straight. The desire is to have coilovers, BC in particular, to be MORE comfortable on Sydney roads than stock suspension? Well, that's obviously not right. BCs have crude damping design at the very best, and typically hard spring rates. BC stands for Billy Cart. And then, the desire is to put in some shitty old worn out stockers, to get it blue slipped and then put the BCs back in? And then.....what? Not worry about getting pulled up by the Plod? Because you seem to have raised a worry about paying for engineering (which actually does solve all your legality problems) and still getting pulled up.... but the only problem there is that if/when that happens you have to show your paperwork at the inspection station. Whereas, if you just swap in borrowed shitty old stockers to get it slipped now, and then you get defected in the future, you have to go find more shitty old stockers then too. You course of action looks like this set of options: Buy brand new stock type dampers, and springs. probably cost a bit more than $1k all up, but will last for the remaining life of the car. Put them in, pass inspection, drive on them forever more. Hell, they could even be really nice Bilsteins and Kings or other lower&stiffer springs if you wanted. Get the car engineered as is. ~$1k. Buy new Shockworks coilvers (or MCA) and also pay for engineering. You're spending a lot more here. But these will be the best things that you could drive around on.
    • Might be worthwhile hitting up Facebook's groups, I know most of them contain terrible people and scammers - however you might be able to find someone that's in Sydney with factory suspension you could purchase and/or hire. Just do not send any form of money anywhere, in person cash only.
    • Thanks @Duncan Ride height is fine. I think it's almost stock tbh. Happy to share a pic. I don't actually have a regular mechanic as haven't lived in Sydney too long. Could you or anyone recommend any shops in Sydney?
    • You just need a different blue slip shop (preferably one you regularly use as a mechanic), and make sure the coil overs are as close as possible to standard height
    • yeah the sugar refining companies were pushing for the same in Oz originally, all fuels were going to have 10% ethanol to make them "cheaper" (noting, that the loss in l/100 might be greater than the decrease in price). I guess they won that fight in Canadia
