hahaha im not a n00b to the euros

cimg0703vt6.jpg

thats my old ride, always loved the audis! will be happy hopping back in one...

yes the parts are expensive, but the build quality, engines and drive is superior to alot on the road!

Sewid- im mates with a couple of APR dealers, and a full exhaust in stainless turbo back is about 2.5k and to chip the computer will be about 1200 but that gives about 50more kw and 80 or so nm so there isnt much else you need to do! Ill eventually do apr stage 3 which will see almost 300kw at all 4 reliably!

abo- yeah the newer models have the V8s thats what your thinking of maybe? turbo goodness is better IMO.... depends what brakes and where.... the afm is a bit dodgey on the one im buying and shall be replaced for $300 new one... not bad!

WTF - i know ill love the s4, drove it for a while tonight, so refined and effortless i was just crusing through the gears and looked down to be doing 20+ the speed limit! that damn massive torque curve is to blame!!!

insurance is less than half that of the skyline... go figure!

I thought they had 280kw at the fly. Maybe that's slightly newer models.

Parts are the biggest ripoff ever. My boss has an A8 and the fuel pump died. $2k just for the pump.

That's the RS4 model, Adam.

The old RS4 (same model as Haysey's, the B5, but with higher-spec everything on the 2.7TT V6) had 280kW flywheel.

The newer (and still current) B6-series S4 has the new 4.0l V8 and cranks out 253kW at the flywheel, and the RS4 has 309kW. Strange fact about the new Audi V8 motors as used in the S4/RS4: they use a timing chain, but it's at the BACK of the motor to make it shorter so it fits in the engine bay.

you used to be my dori hero Ed. now your just a metro in a euro car..

give me your car sammeh and ill happily drift it anyday.... dont worry mate ill get the Haldex Diff upgrade to make the car more RWD biased and come drift it :worship:

Is the S4 a car where you can do DIY mods? (Or even want to try)

It is to a certian extent, its got full audi service history so ill continue that on so i get good resale, not audi servicing but im mates with an audi specialist, im not going to mod the engine much apart from intake, exhaust, chip and later down the track RS4 turbos and intercoolers....

Ill more than likely do suspension/ sound system myself and brakes......

Its more the fact that i dont want to be stuffing around with cars in every spare minute i have, yeah i enjoy it but not if i have to fix a car before i go to work the next day.... im buying one that is quick, complete and i wont want to mod for a while... its just a time constraint mainly and the fact that i want to get in, have fun, take it on long journeys and not worry..

GoldZilla - the best thing is that everything RS4 bolts up to the S4.... so with RS4 goodies on it good for about 450hp :domokun:

I never use to think much of Audi's but I have to say i am a big fan these days..

Especially of the new RS6 Avant wagon..

Claims they have around 600hp

same. but i prefer the sedan..

i wish i could rid myself of my car.

mmm audi S4. the gay mans thinking mobile. or is it the thinking mans gay mobile. I forget which, but the message is clear.

1600kg AWD with 200kw (about 150awkw i'm guessing) it's not my faviourite recipe for excitment. but i can't argue that it will have a far nicer interior than the skyline.

0-100kmh in 5.5sec, full boost by 1800rpm..... thats pretty fun in stock form, chip, exhaust intake will make it a sec or so quicker easy!

Heading down to canberra again tomorrow to drive this blue one

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
