nengun have them delivered for about $2200 (sorry if imissed where you said you wanted 2nd hand)

http://www.nengun.com/hks/turbo-kit-gt-sports

Thanks for that mate.

Not a fan of NENGUN delivery time haha, but either way I'm not looking at paying for a brand new kit, just need the turbo it self if I was going to buy new.

2 x turbo's have popped up in the for sale section. A GARRETT GTRS as well as a HKS2540. I have heard the GT2540 is a fairly average turbo and doesn't perform to well on the RB motors, it doesn't seem to come recommended by many?

Does anyone have any infp/past experience on the GT2540?

GTRS I would like to get but I am pretty sure its of a T25 flange, would rather just get a a T3 flanged one.

Thanks,

Abu

i have the hks2530 on my fairly well sorted 32, cannot rate it highly enough. drives like the stock turbo untill the boost gets up then it just takes off.

shame ur not in brisbane i could take u for a spin

prob also worth mentioning its pretty progressive power delivery, like full throttle gear changes whilst cornering can be made as fast and aggressive as u like and it wont just light up and spend u sideways off the road

Oh I wish lol

When do you make full boost man? And how much power and boost you running?

Where did you pick your turbo up from?

Thanks,

Abu

They should be good for at least 240rwkw on the RB20. There's a guy on the forums that has made 270rwkw on an RB25.

The GTRS has to be some kind of evolution/step forward compared to the old HKS2530 & 2540. They wouldn't have stopped producing them otherwise..?

not really a step forward in terms of lag just more power

got a dyno sheet comparo from a Jap Drift mag with the gtrs and 2540 fitted to a R34 4 door

the 2540 has almost the same curve as the gtrs but gtrs made just under 390ps

compared to the 2540 made 360+ ps

the gtrs only pulled away in the very top end

Oh I wish lol

i got the turbo from japan a few years ago. im running 1.17 bar or 17 psi i think to get 213 or 214 rwkw from the standard injectors. obviously its not very smart having it like but i dont care if my motor shits itself lol, its served me well for years

i got my hands on a pfc recently and as soon as i can ill grab some 550 or 600cc injectors and have it retuned for more boost and try and max the turbo out. im hoping to get 225-30rwkw but a big fat meh if i dont. i have gone cheap on the motor like this because i am in the position to be stupid, and only consider the rb20 as something to power my car untill my 2630 goes in.

however things take time if u want to do them right, so i think a set of injectors and retune is on the cars to tide me over a bit

as far as full boost goes id have to go drive the thing and actually look to tell u. its very decent tho, an excellent balance of stock responce and with the extra top end power u need. it holds 1.17 fairly well out to 6.5k-7k fairly well. i usually change at about 6500 sometimes i might rev it out more if im feeling ricey or get sloppy ;P

Thats awesome man.

I have been trying to find a HKS2530 for a while and not having much luck at that, and it was the same deal with the PFC, unless I wanted to spend $1,800 or something similar for the PFC.

Ended up going with a Wolf3d plug and play and am now trying to find a turbo.

Why don't you grab your self some R32 GTR injectors? Would only set you back about $250 - $350 for a good set and they can support up to about 300rwkw I think it is?

Thats what I was planning on getting until I heard about NISMO injectors..

NISMO 740cc is about $500 brand new now, probably best to spend a little bit more and grab those, I think thats what I will be doing now, but there a little over kill for an RB20 lol.

If your looking at selling that 2530 once you go 26/30 I would be keen, but depends how far down the track that is :)

Thanks for the info.

Abu

if it is genuine would u consider a swap for your front bar plus a little cash

would be interested in a few months if u arent in a hurry for the turbo

Sorry man not looking at selling the bar..ever! lol

Your like the 10th person thats asked as well. ;)

I have just fitted my HKS 2540 to my RB20DET that sits in my pig 180sx... I should have a dyno sheet for it sometime next week with a little feed back for you if you want...?

Much appreciated!

Would be very keen to see how it performs.

Have you driven it at all yet? :D

Good. Please do. Interested to hear the results.

While you're spannering, please check the ID tag and also post up the CHRA number, and the housing A/R for interest sake.

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
    • Very hard to make out what you mean, is it the squarish hole with redline shockproof (probably) under it? Is that pic from on top of the engine with the firewall to the left of pic and engine to the right? Either way, spray the area liberally with degreaser and try again, maybe circle the part you are worried about
