Hey,

I've been checking out mearkat's water spray kit and I was pretty impressed by it.

Unfortunately though I wouldn't be able to install it myself...but for the money, I could easily afford to pay someone to install it and still end up better off than paying for a bigger intercooler.

Anyone know of a place that would do this kind of thing? or maybe someone on here could help me out for an agreed price?

Haven't bought one yet - I just want to know that if I get one it wont sit in my cupboard for years...

Also, does anyone know if this unit also supports a manual override - ie. so you can change it over to manual operation only - ie. only spraying when you press a button.

cheers :D

Do you mean en external water spray setup, of an internal one which mixes water into the inlet air?

I had an external setup off the windscreen wipers on my S15 and it helped on hot days but you run out of water fast.

Tuners hate the other variety - even though some will tell you it is reliable, has been used on rally cars for years, etc etc. These are still out of favour with the general population, although in theory they sound fantastic.

I was thinking of using the sprayers for my headlights that DR30's have. and re-direct the piping to my intercooler and use it as a sprayer for that.

sorry to butt in, but for someone like me who prolly drives the car once or twice a fortnight thesedays and doesnt boost it heaps hard all the time, is it worth spending the time/effort?

It would be useful for super hot days where your intercooler gets really really hot. But if you aren't going to punish it in hot weather or on the track, then I don't think it would have too much effect. Still, it is nice to use if you are on a cruise on a warm night and want to give it a squirt - once you coat the intercooler in water it becomes a much more effective heatsink.

I did my setup on the S15 for the 4,6 and Rotor Nationals a couple of years ago when it was 45 degrees on the track. I also put ice bags on top of the motor to cool it down, and iced up the pod filter to get some cold air in there.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
