just wondering what is the difference between a non-turbo R34 and a Turbo model. obvisley the engine is but what about the suspension, brakes, floor plan anything.. i saw a R34 non turbo 4WD for sale fairly cheap and was looking at dropping a GTR motor and gearbox into it for abit of fun.

As far as i know the gt and gt-t are exactly the same except for of course the turbo engine in the gt-t. As for the GTR...well that is quite different from both the gt and gt-t ie engine, suspension, gearbox, computer etc

yeah i know with the R32's that the non turbo had different interior, steering wheel and also the brake system is completly different. going off that i don't think it would be to hard to transplant a GTR motor and gearbox into then... mmmmmm.

does the engine ecu talk to the attessa ecu somehow??

ctjet - i saw it on carsales i think. it was red and looked ok.

the r34 gt4 didnt come with a turbo..neither did the r33 one they were both N/A

the only 4wd non gtr skyline that came with a turbo is the r32 gts4.

btw there is a model of the r34 gt known as the gt-v

its exactly the same as a gtt..such as same brakes, suspensions etc etc except it doesnt have rb25det neo it just has the rb25de neo.

The r34 gt4 doesnt have the same brakes as the gt-t, the gt4 only has the n/a brakes same as the r33 na brakes.

The suspension is interchangeable with the gt-t though

Interior wise is the same, except the gt4 doesnt have the centre gauges as in the gt-t. The gt-4 is literally a n/a gt with awd.

No need to change the gearbox, the gt-4 runs the same box as the gtr, just the bellhousing is different as it runs a push style setup clutch instead of a pull in the gtr. The easiest way to turbo it would to stick a stagea rb25det neo motor in, obiously direct bolt in and it will have the transfer case and everything ready just to slide in and you keep your stock box. The neo rb25det is rated at 206kw so with a few mods it would be alot of fun.

I'm most likely going down the path of using a rb30 bottom end on my neo head in my gt-4, should be some fun

didnt say the gt4 has same brakes as gtt. said the 34gt has a special model called the gt-v which has the gtt brakes and suspension and some other stuff but just has the rb25de neo and its rwd.

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).

    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
