If your oil pressure has dropped off, the damage is already done.

Especially @ 7000rpm. IMO the oil pressure isnt that much of a help (over the stocker gauge). As ye, once you've done your dinner... thats it.

I'd disagree, I've heard of cases where people have used oil with the wrong viscosity and had very low oil pressure, you could pick this up with a nice oil gauge and same some wear and tear :)

Horrid? Nope. I think they aren't bad for stock gauges unless you are aiming to impress Paul and Vin when V-tec kicks in yo.

Admittedly I've upgraded to the Nismo gauges but hey, they work.

i think stock guages are pos when it comes to readings, and running more then 1bar its just not of use.

what about oil temp, fuel pess, water temp and exhaust temp???

I'd like to see -

1. Dose/flutter meter

2. KM's to Noble Park Macca's

3. RPM till V-tec kicks in yo

4. $ left till I've payed the car off

and last

5. Number of Bush cops I've noted on the way to Noble Park Macca's

:)

hahhahha kms to maccas watta crack up.

volume of dose would be a good one aswell

I vote you save the money and spend it on something that actually needs upgrading.

dude, if u wanna pay for that something that "actually needs upgrading" go for it. if not is it okai with you if i buy what i want with my moneY?

:)

Of course, do what you like with your money mate. Go for oil temp/pressure (lets you see if the engine's heart is pumping, and also if it has warmed up so you dont flog a cold engine), Boost needs no explanation. I thinks that all you really need, I just meant 5 guages I think would be overkill.

You already have oil temp and water temp. Let's be realistic, fuel pressure and exhaust temp are just novelties.

Do you actually run more that 1 bar!?

Don't forget you'll need to allow for sensor installation also if you start putting all these crazy gauges. I'm 99.9% there is no sensors for exhaust temp and fuel pressure that you can use.

oh yeh i know what u mean, i opted for 3 in the begining, just replacing the stockers, but im getting the other 2 at a discount, and my mates not using his a pillar...so meh

day to day driving i rarely even make boost, but ive got it set at 16psi (1.2bar???) but i only hit that on the "odd occasion".

thanks for pointing out the sensor thing, i was certain defi would supply em, its just a matter of linking em up.

will have to give this more thought then, thanks

if anyone can confirm if sensors come with the gaudges that be great

By they way how is your RB30 with GT30 project going? Did it ever come to fruition?

thanks for asking man, it is actually, but nothing has been put into the car yet, still buying parts here and there. should be going in for the transformation when the bottom end is done.

atm im doing a wide body project aswell...so been buusy lol

Yeah, in which case

You shouldnt be allowed near your car (if you cant select the right oil) >_<

oil pressure guage is very important. it tells you how things are going. and if something goes wrong mine activates a big red light and a buzzer which means I can shut off straight away and save the motor. also I use it to record a few laps then replay it back in the pits so I can ensure I'm not getting oil surge through the corners.

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
