I just got my renewal, 16 days before its due

23yo, 1 claim with a diff insurance company been driving

almost every day since i was 16 and been insured under

my name for the last 5 years? my renewal didnt have my

NCB listed either??

I put in 5 years driving histor & 1 Claim into RACV for a quote on a BMW

and it classified me as a rating 1?

Surely a rating 1 premium wouldnt be that high?

I havn't found that streamline has written anything public about you.

Why are you making threats to sue someone who supposedly wrote something about you. I can't seem to find any statements on this thread that the public can actually read.

He does seem to be drawing attention to a newletter published for your customers. Discussion about your newsletter is a healthy thing unless you feel you have something to hide.

Put it plain and clear, explain the risk to your customers and the official attitude of the company and if this is how most people say you actually deal with them, your good reputation will precede you.

In particular I would like to know what the financial rules mean in regard to the ability of famous to pay claims. Will famous get money from its reinsurer if it has a lot of big claims?

So just tell me. The UK has a good legal system and you state that Heritage uses the UK laws, so I would just like to ask: Is the reinsurance contract that famous holds with Heritage based in UK or Aus. Just stating such a contract exists in UK jusrisdiction would make it clear you can pay claims, and put further speculation to rest.

We don't mind educated debate, however we do not appreciate it being suggested things are not what they seem when the opposite is true. Our reinsurer is AXA, a company well known to most Aussies. Heritage is governed by U.K. laws but AXA is regulated by Australian Juristictions. Famous/Heritage has maximum exposure of $225,000 in any one accident or catastrophe-we HAVE paid out over $3,000,000 in claims!!!!!

Any company who starts throwing around legal threats on an relatively anonymous forum needs to speak to their legal representatives first. I'm sure anyone with half a brain knows this is a standard 'straw man' threat.

Make it clear what the implications are when you decide to reinsure with a non-Australian underwriter - if it's not a worry, tell us why.

Quite the opposite. I was involved in a small rear end bump last year (not at fault). The other party claimed responsibility but they didn't have insurance, so I claimed it under my comprehensive with Famous. They let me choose the repairer, then had an assessor come and check out the car and ok the work. Everything was dealt with promptly and they paid up the repairer promptly too (so he told me).

(obviously they should have been able to recover the money from the other party in this case - better them deal with all that than me though)

I could only recommend them based on my experience, they beat any other premium I was able to find.

(I would suggest saving up and paying for a full year at once, when I enquired about monthly repayments upon my renewal they were going to charge me an extra 33% over the year!)

Glad you put that to rest Famous. AXA is a well known Australian reinsurer.

Noone should have anymore trouble insuring with them.

Since Famous have invited - give them a call when you are insuring and ask them because it means they should be able to pay in any claim eventuality.

AXA'S name, by definition of re-insurers articles, is not permitted to be shown on our paper work.

would like to clarify one thing though - the $225,000 maximum exposure thing - does that mean that AXA takes over if the accident liability exceeds this amount?

AXA takes over any single claim at $75,000. If it is a multiple claim (catastrophe-flood, bushfire, hail, etc) they take over at $225,000.

During our conversation Robyn mentioned that their underwriters were in the channel islands, just off the UK coast.

Being a pom myself, i know these islands, and a lot of the insurers in teh UK do the same thing. The reason is that they are a tax haven. Having no tax is quite a big incentive for companies to run operations from these islands ...

i dont blame em personally !

has anyone ever got an email reply or returned phone call from Famous?

on several occasions I have emailed them or called & asked to be called back (to let me know all info was sorted etc) & NEVER had a reply.

they called me once, because they briefly lost track of my direct debitting.

Is this a common problem or are my emails not getting through?

Hmmmm i must have done or said something to offend them....

the only call I've ever received was when they thought i had stopped paying them. fortunately i could quickly prove that payments had not stopped.

oh well, i guess i'll call them later to confirm that they have received my emails

on the positive side, people seem to be very happy with Famous' claim responses!

my old roommate's S15 was insured with famous (via a broker) & had a single car accident not long after insuring it. Famous paid up close $10000 to fix the car quite quickly.

after looking at the repsonses in this thread & my own experiences, Famous seems to be a good company in terms of pricing & claims (the important parts) but just a little lacking with replys/admin...

    • Must have been an absolute nightmare to drive when the power steer was out, the rack ratio/wheel size/caster is all set up for power assistance
    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
    • I wanted to try and preserve the front bumper as long as possible, they're not cheap and are made to order in Japan. Taking inspiration from my previous K11 Micra build where I made an undertray for the Impul bumper, I did the same for this BN Sports bumper but a little slimmed down.  This time round I only made a 'skid plate' (if that's the correct wording/term) for just the bumper surface area, the Micra version covered the gap like an undertray. Starting off with a sheet of mild steel approx. 0.9mm thick 4ft x 2ft in size. I traced around the bumper, cut it out and cleaned the edges. Luckily I was able to get two halves from one piece of metal In the video I installed it as is, but I've since then I've removed it to spray and add a rubber edging trim. The rubber trim is suitable for 1-2mm and it's a really nice tight fit. The bolts had to be loosened due to the plates being too tight against the bumper, the trim wouldn't push on I used some stainless M6 flat headed bolts for a flusher finish (rather than hex heads poking down), I believe this style fastener is used for furniture too incase you struggle to source some. The corner's are a little wider, but this may be an advantage incase I get close to bumping it  The front grill got some attention, finally getting round to repairing it. Upon removal one fixing pulled itself out of the plastic frame, one side is M8 that fixes inside of the frame, where as the other side is M5. Not knowing I could get replacements, I cut down an M8 bolt, threaded it inside the frame along with a decent amount of JB Weld.  The mesh was replaced to match the bumper. One hole on the bonnet/hood had to be drilled out to 8mm to accommodate the new stud, once the glue had set it could be refitted. I think the reason the grill was double meshed was to hide the horn/bonnet latch (which makes sense) but I much prefer it matching the bumper Bumper refitted and it's looking much better IMO The Youtube video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVZP35io9MA

There's nothing wrong with having coloured silicone hoses, but I realise as I'm getting older I prefer monotone engine bays with a splash of colour on the engine cover(s). I cover this in a lot more detail in the Youtube video, so unfortunately there's limited photos of the process. The intercooler, upper radiator, boost vacuum and upper breather hoses were all changed to black silicone with mikalor clamps. The only blue left is a blanking cap at the back of the inlet manifold and the GReddy pulleys (which will be replaced for stock when the cambelt gets replaced) While the intercooler pipes were off I gave them a quick clean/polish too A before photo I do have a replacement air filter on its way.
