Hi guys, doing another metalcat group buy over at aus300zx.com so wondering if anyone here is interested? The only size I can do at the moment is 3.5" due to limited stock coming over from the US. Also due to complications with the last GB i ran metalcat no longer offer a flanged (bolt on) version of the cat, only unflanged. This is an easy job for your exhaust shop or you may wish to weld straight to dump pipes to eliminate weight (flanges are heavy) and potential leaks. Hopefully you all know these cats and have seen the ads in Zoom etc

Features

  • Polished Stainless Steel Construction
  • Unique 200 cell design
  • EPA and CARB compliant with numbers stamped onto the body of the cat
  • Street Legal
  • Outflows the competition

Price: $300 including delivery anywhere in AUS

Stock Availability: At the moment there are 50 cats on their way from the US via air-freight so they should be available by the end of October

Timegrame for Group Buy: Cutoff date will either be when the cats land or when I get 7 buyers, whatever happens first

Supplier: I'm buying direct from the AUS importer PSI

Please PM me to confirm an order, i will need 100% of the money upfront so please feel free to ask for any details phone number/address/etc

Also just to clarify there is no minimum number needed for this group buy as I alreayd have the required number of orders from the aus300zx.com forum. This is just a chance to add to that order.

any idea when these are gonna be sent? they arrived in aus yet?

Hi mate, no not in AUS yet they were ordered a couple of weeks ago. Don't know when they will land but they are coming via air-freight so no big delays there, just a matter of customs doing their thing... As soon as I have them I will send yours out.

Update -had an email from PSI these are due next week. There are only 50 of these coming in for the whole of AUS and then no more. If you want one please get your money in ASAP while I can still add to my order.

So far I have only received payment from TTOMIE

Might be interested, so these are the Legit "metalcat" cat 3.5"

Just read a few worrying stories about them :s

Yep they are the legit metalcat brand imported by PSI Australia. The ones with warranty...

I have organised two group buys on these (close to fifty cats in total) and have yet to hear of any problems. I've been using them on my own car (300zxTT) for around two years without issue.

Thanks Heaps Do you know what sort of a performance hit I will take I have a 32gtr 3.5" zaust on there now currently no cat.

Cheers I think i will be in I will confirm, when do you need to know by ?

Hi mate sent you a PM. Honestly I don't know what difference it will make on a dyno compared to open pipe, I would be very interested to see actually.

Need the money ASAP as once they land in AUS they'll be sent out to me and I won't be able to add to the order.

Can you confirm the warranty offered is full replacement and not "replacement at reduced cost" which seems to be the line Metalcat have been taking recently.

I only know of two metallic substrate cat manufacturers that offer no questions asked replacements, Metalcat aren't one of them.

If however PSI are offering the warranty, then I can't see a problem :D

Have sent an email to clarify -never heard of a reduced cost warranty but I've asked them just to be sure.

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
