Recommended Posts

was wantin to put some guages in but dont want anything to over board makin it look like a fighter plane insted of a car.. and i just like the simple cluster in the gtrs and was wonderin is it possiable to mount and hook it all up ? and does it really matter if its a 32 33 ?

cheers

Hey MRDeanos,

I reckon you could probably do it. It would easily mount in the same position in the centre of the dash tower. You would just have to move something like a cd player or the A/C controls to fit them in. The wiring might be a little tricky, but I think it would be just like wiring up a cd player, you would need to find a good ign "ON" power wire to tap into(make sure it's not running something too important and that it is 12V), a good earth point, then it would just be a matter of tracking down all the signal wires from the sensors, oil temp, MAP sensor(boost) and charge rate and hooking them up to the right gauges. Shouldn't matter which model you get the gauges out of either. I don't know what the gts-t's have in the dash tower, but I imagine if they don't have gauges already, then there is probably a coin holder or tray there instead, might be able to move that.

umm I think you will find its not that easy. the oil temp and boost senders on your car may or may not put out the right voltage for those gauges. And you will have to find and tap the signals from the senders. The volts are straight forward it probably just reads the voltage of the + into the cluster.

Also the 3 gauges have a particular loom connector, you will need to solder wires straight to the circuit board and work out what each pin on the circuit board is for.

Much easier to buy something like the Just Jap 3 gauge kits with the gauge holder, puts 3 gauges of your choice in a din slot

plus they are not that good anyway. I've turfed mine a long time ago. they are quite small, slow to react and not necissarily always accurate either.
