the coppers have been taking low blows, knowing they cant do shit.... defecting brand new harleys on the show room floor lol, id hate to be the officer sent in there and tell the owner of the business im bout to defect his livelyhood

its not exactly intelligent is it? I'd hate to think what my dad would do if a young cop gave him shit about his harley. He's a vietnam veteran, and TPI at that.... would love to watch it happen tho haha.... i think some people in sapol and the government have forgotten that police are most effective when the public are 100% behind them.

theoretically only career criminals and professional miscreants should be worried about the scrutiny of the police. but unfortunately in practice, politicians like to meddle.... and so they turn the police from a body that finds and prosecutes murderers, rapists and thieves to one which doses out speeding tickets to raise revenue, and actively encourages them to harass drivers at random so they can make a totally inappropriate quota... think about it.... a quote is implying that our politicians *want* a certain percentage of the population to be deemed 'criminal'.... gives them something to harp on about and instills enough fear and self righteous pontification to the point that nobody has the balls to question their motives... and to top it off, they make the police liable for trivial accidents, load them up with stupendous amounts of paperwork, and kicks them out the door when they're no longer young and stupid, and generally won't put up with the crap anymore

Oh I know the curse hit me today ,,some dickhead smashed my car and did a runner, $3500 in damages.. then my other skyline R31 had a dead battery for no reason. and a well know import shop in town destroyed one of my brake lines and didnt tell me,, found it yesterday..they crimped the metal line in half going into my front wheel caliper. hello consumer affairs, this shop is bad news 4 times now I have had something to discuss about there shonky work,and my car warranty is from them.. GREAT!!!

tired of hearing them deny deny deny and to face up to what they did...grrrrr

anyone know a decent body shop in the south ? doesnt look bad but the prices are $$$..... time to kit my car I think..lol

and good on the bikers,, not every biker is a crim,, neither is a group of car enthusiasts trying to cruise..lol

the media just hypes up everthing to scare people into taking Ranns side , just hearing his voice makes me cringe..lol

A bricklayer's accident report

This is a bricklayer's accident actual (verbatim) report, which was printed in the newsletter of the Australian equivalent of the Workers' Compensation board. This apparently is a true story.

Dear Sir

"I am writing in response to your request for additional information in Block 3 of the accident report form. I put "poor planning" as the cause of my accident. You asked for a fuller explanation and I trust the following details will be sufficient.

I am a bricklayer by trade. On the day of the accident, I was working alone on the roof of a new six story building. When I completed my work, I found that I had some bricks left over which, when weighed later were found to be slightly in excess of 500 lbs. Rather than carry the bricks down by hand, I decided to lower them in a barrel by using a pulley, which was attached to the side of the building on the sixth floor. Securing the rope at ground level, I went up to the roof, swung the barrel out and loaded the bricks into it.

Then I went down and untied the rope, holding it tightly to ensure a slow descent of the bricks. You will note in Block 11 of the accident report form that I weigh 135lbs. Due to my surprise at being jerked off the ground so suddenly, I lost my presence of mind and forgot to let go of the rope Needless to say, I proceeded at a rapid rate up the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel which was now proceeding downward at an equal, impressive speed.

This explained the fractured skull, minor abrasions and the broken collar bone, as listed in section 3 of the accident report form.

Slowed only slightly, I continued my rapid ascent, not stopping until the fingers of my right hand were two knuckles deep into the pulley. Fortunately by this time I had regained my presence of mind and was able to hold tightly to the rope, in spite of beginning to experience a great deal of pain. At approximately the same time, however, the barrel of bricks hit the ground and the bottom fell out of the barrel. Now devoid of the weight of the bricks, that barrel weighed approximately 50 lbs. I refer you again to my weight.

As you can imagine, I began a rapid descent, down the side of the building. In the vicinity of the third floor, I met the barrel coming up. This accounts for the two fractured ankles, broken tooth and several lacerations of my legs and lower body. Here my luck began to change slightly. The encounter with the barrel seemed to slow me enough to lessen my injuries when I fell into the pile of bricks and fortunately only three vertebrae were cracked. I am sorry to report, however, as I lay there on the pile of bricks, in pain, unable to move, I again lost my composure and presence of mind and let go of the rope and I lay there watching the empty barrel begin its journey back down on to me, this explains the two broken legs.

yeah if it wasnt warranty work I would work on it myself,, then I can only blame myself for it..lol and to make sure its done right the first time, I dont cut corners..lol

It was just the final straw when I found the wasted brake line,, a huge safety hazard, really surprised it wasnt leaking the crimp was that tight in the line.

only a 15 dollar part from nissan, last one in the country,,, lucky me..some luck for fri 13th..lol

more the fact this lot is supposed to be a reputable shop who deals with skylines, supras,etc.... exclusively ????

it also comes down to them not covering a resurface on my rotors , they cut too much off causing cracks in the front ones a few weeks after they cut them. and the lugs on my wheels not tightened properly, loose as hell to the point of rattling on the hub by a few lugs,, I even asked them to use a torque wrench not a rattle gun to tighten them up ???, I was in the garage when they put on my rims after new tires and service. and was promised they would. lies I guess

the brake line was crushed by a wrench,, when they removed the caliper bolts the imprint dent was still on the side of the line. it was just them cutting corners to hang the brake calipers off the lines while machining the rotors.. not wiring them up to hold the weight off the lines while rotors were off. slackers

we need a "stay away" from these shop thread, in the recommended shop thread.lol got to have the good with the bad. damn warranty , going to call them monday to see if I can take it somewhere else from now on.

seaford crash repair on seaford road, its low key but they do some realy high quality for a good price

sucks to hear troy. i highly recomend D and C carcraft off seaford road. they know there shit and are good blokes too,They are the only people that work on my car apart from my self.

d&c are great, i know the owner and one of the aprentaces down there and they are the only guys i trust on my car, he understands it is important to you and will always be truthful and explain it to you all the way, no bull. ive had some bad shit happen with certain tuners thaty everyone raves about on here making rookie mistakes, but the boys down at d&c have always done the job well, fairly and on time

they also said the parts arent available for 10 days or longer , the car is too new and the parts have to come from japan, massive shipping too

the rear bar is slighty diff looking to older ones, no skyline logo embossed on it.

might have to look up D@C for warranty work.

i'm still in a pickle! a few days ago i asked a question and i got 1 reply of using expanding foam! sounds interesting but is there any other way to stiffen the chassis without a roll cage?

what exactly do u need a stiffer chassis for? Get a front strut brace, rear brace, and the brace that is mounted on the floor infront of the rear seats.

Two things : Strut braces, fore and aft (esp the front one with the firewall brace) and also underbody chassis bracing. Seen them around a bit, tho I cant remember where.... but tbh are u going to need it? If you're gonna drift the car, sure, its a good investment but not for a streeter or occasional track beast

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed 
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
